Ok ok, there are loads of websites that laugh about Windows and make fun of it. I laughed as well but i couldn't do without due to many software i use which is on Linux not even close in features.
However, in my quest to convert to linux (for 8 years already) i finally found some good software that suites my development needs.
Due to that i can finally fully work in Linux to develop Dragonfly, MOO and many other stuff.
What i needed:
A. a cvs front-end for easy click, edit and point
B. an easy to handle syntax highlighter with utf8 support
What i found:
A. LinCVS (the free version)
B. Bluefish
Anf they finally are mature enough to setup a nice workspace

I've started with many distro's like Debian, SuSe, Redhat, Mandrake, Gentoo, Slackware, Knoppix, Fedora and Ubuntu.
But for a few years i'm a happy CentOS user currently running 4.4.
Bluefish has a option to do tab spacing. One thing is missing though and that is bracket matching.
It's on their feature requests list though.

Now that i'm actively developing on Linux i was shocked to only see all those ugly fonts without any crispy font like in Windows.
A simple google search for "centos install fonts" hit the jack pot.

Now it's all clear in front of my eyes as well

Multi-Touch screen? *nix is pretty cool if your running away from Windows.

@Wide
I'm using CentOS for a few years now and it's definatly stable.
I do use the centosplus repo though for PHP5.

I'm waiting to switching to a Mac OS X. all I need how to afford it.
How you scaring of Linux? it looks easy if your know how to do it.
My problem is I dont know how to do it. That is why I am scared. I tried it before. Installing Linux and I cound not figured out how to get it on the network. So, I put it back to Windows.
I think I might do the same thing and wait until I have enoguh money to get a Mac OS X. If not I'll try to load Linux again on one of my old box that is still sitting in my closet.

I'm using linux for years already and everything always worked.
These days it's easier thanks to live cd's which i didn't have in the past.
Those days i was forced to download 2-3 cd iso's using an ISDN dual dial-up.
If you want to go safe you should try CentOS, SuSe or Debian.
For home comfort try Ubuntu.
Ubuntu never worked for me though, it hates all my videocards.

I got Ubuntu, it's kind of nice. But I can only run it off the CD. I want to load it to the box so I dont have my CD ROM tied up.
I might just try CentOS thou. How easy is it to load it?
