Post subject: block invisibility

I created a block with a paypal subscribe button, but I'd like to hide it's visibilty to those who have subscribed.

I'm reluctant to make a group named 'non subscribers' & delete subscribers as appropriate.

Or if I do create a group named 'non subscribers' & add 54 members can I stop the auto email confirming they've joined this group (unbeknown to them)?

Or can I make block visible to everyone except a certain group?

Cheers

Make the block a php block file (examples enough to view).
In there make the proper actions to either show or hide the block.
