PHP 6 development is not cancelled but simply put in hold because the approach used to include native Unicode support was, someone say, wrong.

PHP 5.4 (PHP050400) will include all other features, like APC, that were suppose to go into PHP 6.

Couldn't find any official source about this, post a link if you know one.
