Post subject: Memberlist Search

I have searched but can not find any discussion on this.

While the registration/Your Account function with CPG is much better than PHPNuke being able to add custom fields and make certain field mandatory there is no way to really search those fields. Memberlist is pretty much useless in this issue.

Anyone know of an existing mod or am I missing something already built in to CPG???

I did find this but haven't tried it yet:

www.phpbbhacks.com/vie...hp?id=2328

and it's for PHPbb not necessarilly CPG... but it might be a starting point at least.

So you want to have search capabilities on custom user fields ?

Custom and the 'standard' fields as well. Basically if someone wants to find another member in Austin, Texas or everyone with the first name of Jim or what kind of car/motorcycle they drive (custom field).

This is on a motorcycle site and the members are trying to find local riders, those with the same type of motorcycle (custom) and/or riding skills (custom).

I think a new module should do it.
Something like "Member_search"

Then it's easier to extend for dating, sports or any other match

Is this something on the horizon? I really don't want to do a modified FriendFinders type module.. trying to keep as few mods as possible on the site. I like cpg's coding and prefer to keep it that way.

Just curious if anything has progressed on this? I'm about to make the upgrade from 8.x to the latest and greatest and thought I'd just check in.

OMG

I have JUST been heckled for this VERY feature!!!

I was hoping the Friend Finder might appease them but allowing them to just search the member search would be pretty durn cool.

i am also looking for something like this.
i am running a school alumni website, and of course need to collect and search as many information as possible.
i tried to install firendfinder, but the user profile it uses is not same with the system core's ... so i dont find it really usefull for my porpuse.
the best would be to just enhance the core members search modules.

by the way.. i was trying to add a COUNTRY list in the user profile. of course there is not this choice in the custom field.. but is there any table with the countries list i can use?

cheers

I'm not giving up on this. This is something that, in my oh so humble opinion, is way overdue and much needed.

I might even be willing to throw in some cash or ???
