Post subject: Newsletter Signatures

when sending a newsletter whether to "all users" or to "subscribers" it auto-includes a generic - often very mistyped - signature of something to the effect of "to be removed from newsletter click here" "thank you staff" etc...

can this be gotten rid of???

it's a complete hassle to go in and hardcode your signature - especially if you want your newsletter all designed out and the signature at the bottom

can we instead have - when typing a newsletter - an extra signature block at the bottom that can be changed for each newsletter? perhaps another box for the "default" signature with a checkbox to be included or not that can be changed in admin...

this would especially be useful if its a non-scheduled newsletter to state something like "this newsletter was sent because of this reason"

thanks

the "signature" should be in your language file. As for adjusting per message... that will require rewriting the module... its not that hard.

In my opinion it will not be in the works for the default Dragonfly install. The footer line needs to be attached so that people don't complain about SPAM. Now, I do have a Newsletter ad-hoc module that includes the last "x" News, forums, downloads, and links. I was thinking about updating this for pictures as well. The question is can I declare the footer message within the module and replace it with a text field so you can create your own. I won't be around this weekend... you will have to wait about 10 days for me to reply that I have this finished.

MusOX,

Not wanting to sound like a dimwit but could you tell me which language file as I don't have time to search through them all. Currently using Dragonfly (9.0.6.0) and core newsletter.

Thanks safecracker4hire,

That helps a lot, now could I impose on you to tell me where the language file components are put together to for the newsletter?

safecracker4hire/musox

Is there anyway I can include user information in the newsletter? For example I have done a mass add of users to the database and I have chosen what thier username is. I now want to send an email to all 142 members informing them of what thier username is but not wanting to have to send it individually.

I'd like to have something like:
Dear {name}

You have been added to the registered members with username {user_name}

Regards......

The user table should already be in the SQL statement to send the newsletter. Therfore, just add the correct fields (i.e. username) and add the $row['field'] where you would like the info.

I don't want to be a pain but my php coding skills are little to none. As far as I can see what I need to do is to add some code in the newsletter.php but am not sure of where/how to do it.

in: $content = _HELLO.$name",\n\n$content\n\n\n"._NL_REGARDS.",\n\n$sitename "._STAFF."\n\n\n\n"._NLUNSUBSCRIBE;

I would like to add the Users Name from the sql but am not sure where to get this from or how to define it.

I would like to have the username in the content of the newsletter as I would like to put some explanation with it. This could be hard coded but with my limited knowledge is going to take some time.

Please help if you would.

Beatle
