I think this site needs some dedicated volunteers to create tutorials for newbie and intermediate dragonfly admins. A tutorial section would be really nice.

We already have a Wiki module that is grossly under-utilized.

A document isn't as powerful as a tutorial.

Maybe, but it's still under utilized though

i'll agree with that. i've submitted two articles so far so i'm trying to help out with it too. wiki is a good tool and it's going to be more powerful the more people add to it. i think the name wiki is detering people. i know it detered me for a while because i didn't know what a wiki was.

i would totally help with that. i think i'm pretty good at thechnical writing.
i think it should be more organized. you can have something there that is great for people to use but if you don't advertise it then no one will know about it. someone actually offered me to be a documentor and i don't think i'd do it honestly. although i think it's so much fun to do doumentation
the wiki needs to be a little bit more organized and should have specific people working at certain things at all times.
just like devon said and i think it's what should happen. some people work at tutorials for themes. some work for modules, some work for hacks some work for blocks and some work for others.
but the whole system is not advertised so when anyone comes on this board they do not add or know about the Wiki. i didn't know about the wiki for at least 2 months. maybe more. it's a tiny link to the side and just one link. after that you have no idea. it really is silly
it might be under utilized but it's also very poorly advertised. i think that not only should you tell everyone about the site and how to work it (site tutorial upon member registration thru email) but also to say it in the forums.
and Devon is right. a tutorial is 10x more helpful than a document. you can have a book telling you something works (math book) or you can have a math book that actually works with you on the problems. it's always better

If you do not know what something, just go to google, and then type: define:<word>
It is not hard.
And i do not want to add to the WiKi because my tutorials are flash, and it would work correctly, and look stupid being flash.

tutorials and the wiki could be seperate or integrated. doesn't really matter to me. i love watching tutorials even if it is on how to add an rss block tutorials mean that someone has taken the time out of their life to show the world how to do something. same thing with wiki docs. i respect anyone that adds a tutorial, wiki doc, helping post, module, block, theme, etc... because it means that you know something that someone else doesn't...and instead of hording that information you are giving it to the world.

i completely agree. giving up money is one thing but to teach someone how to do a certain hack, make something. that would be fantastic. feed someone for a day, show them how to fish...
i really do think it should be a team and a forum on it's own. the lead tutorial dude has some tutorials that need to be written up and he gets them as requests from the forum. then there are the other guys that are willing to write them that are part of the team.
and the tutorial team could also work the Wiki and Faq alongside the documentors

Tutorials would help many people, I use them all the time for Photoshop; whether flash or text + screens. Thumbs up from me.

MrPots, i am trying, but i honestly do not have the time, i have 7 websites manage, and some of them are going very inactive, and i am in certain trouble. My host is ignoring my upgrade request, and i have so much homework to do. When i have the time, i will do it, but currently i have no time.
