I haven't seen any mambo to dragonfly conversions, it prolly wouldnt be too hard to just do the users, have you compared user tables?

Theres no simple way to do it mate, you'll have to look at adapting the user tables across CMS's, and thats no easy task by any means.

Theres no simple solution though so i doubt you'll get an answer other then that.

the best thing to do is to create a backup/dump/export of your mambo database. add the raw data manually. yeah it's 2000 users but that's about the only way i can see it happening without a mambo conversion script.

it will take days to do but as you've said you aren't good with sql so there really isn't much to do unless you want to pay someone to figure it out.

it's going to take a lot of work and depending on how much you value your site it might not be worth. maybe just notify all of your users about the change before dumping mambo, give them a firm date to reregister, and hope they all come back.

maybe a developer or debugger here could point you in a better direction.

You could freeze membeship sign-up's then work on getting the users converted, least that way no-one gets missed out.

You could install DF and Mambo in sub-directorys as test sites, create 5 or so dummy users, and make an attempt at converting the user base, least this way you can practice without having to practice at such a high level.

depending on how similar the user tables are, it could just mean deleting/adding/changing a few rows couldnt it?

Yes possibly, but unless someone takes a look at the 2 databases its hard to say.

-----------------

Writing a script that does it is not something many people know how to do, and will likely cost you more then you want to spend.

well lets look at it this way
we dont need to port from MAMBO so we dont need to worry about the mambo database structure

what i can do is export all the usernams, passwords and their email addresses in to a text file or an excel file and the have a script that puts that file into the DF database

eg. the file could read:
username,password,email
username,password,email
username,password,email
username,password,email
username,password,email
etc...

then we just import that in.. wudnt that work easier?
