I'll do it i suppose. Install DF with it's won database.

Then i'll write a script that takes in the username password dbname combo for mambo, then the same for DF, and will then iterate through and propogate the DF database with mmbo user info. Make sure to keep the DF site in mainenance mode, and that there is onyl one person registered, you.

that way the user_id's should also match up. I'll post the code here, and ask for devs to look at it and try to identfify and problems. If there is a problem it'll be simple to go back. Just drop all rows except for where uid=1 or 0 or wateva it is. I'm starting now. Hope that you appreciate (BTW no garuantees either, except that i t wont harm your mambo DB)...

let's just hope that they both use md5() for the passwords and that it works as such, otherwise someone create a df password hash, and i'll make a script to reset EVERYONE'S password to this, and hope that they dont abuse the privledge....

well this will put the data across... some fields are ommitted because either one of the cms's dont seem to support it. have fun.

PHP:

BTW, i beleive that that's the important stuff. Maybe someone else can help you (that is all that you'll need. The only 2 issues that MIGHT arrise are either A more fields are required. i got bored and have better thigns to do. i done most important ones, i think. B possible problems with the password being valid. I do not know how they work their encryption. Maybe copy across site keys or something.)

oh yeah, copy that into a file, upload it, and call it with a url like this (you'll need to edit it of course):

ALL of the variables here can be found within df's config.php and, i assume, mambo's config.php (or wateva it's called).

PHP:
http://yousite.tld/this_file.php?m_host=localhost&m_name=mambo_db_name&m_word=mambo_db_password&m_db=mambo_bd_name&d_host=localhost&d_name=df_db_username&d_word=df_db_password&d_db=df_db_name&prefix=df_db_prefix

have fun.

Post subject: Re: importing mambo users

thanks a lot for ur help its appreciated, but that didnt work!

when i was moving to mambo, i used a very good script to import users from a cvs file, the script is so simple and it worked great, i have now put all my users in a cvs file and wish to use the same script to import them into DF
maybe someone can help me modify the script?

PHP:

basically, this script will take data from a cvs file thats written out like this:

username,password,full_name,email_address
jdoe,tacobell123,John Doe,johnny@yahoo.com
.
.
.(etc)

if anyone could help this would be great, as anyone can use this script to import users from any other cms by just exporting the users into a cvs file

here is the origional link to the forum i found the script on, just for copyright sake

forum.mamboserver.com/...&pp=10
