Sorry I haven't been giving any updates on Downloads Pro recently, but I've been very busy. However, I am resuming work on the module and I am pleased to announce that a second beta version of the module will be released very soon, with the Final version on the way.

In beta 2, expect to find these improvements:
  • fixes for all known bugs (several bugs have already been fixed in the CVS)
  • completed screenshot viewer, with a browser for multiple screenshots
  • user mirror submission system
  • better statistics
  • better broken download reporting

Please add your comments/requests to this thread. If you have reported a bug in the past for the module, please go back and see if there is any feedback regarding your bug. Thanks!

How is the languages working out? Can we expect to see that in Beta2 or a later release?

Is there a Latest Downloads-block available n B2 (or have I just missed in earlier?)

I'm adding PAD functionality to the module which should be an great addition when you want to add a new download.

What is PAD wrote:
PAD is the Portable Application Description, and it helps authors provide product descriptions and specifications to online sources in a standard way, using a standard data format that will allow webmasters and program librarians to automate program listings. PAD saves time for both authors and webmasters.

Read the PAD FAQ if you still don't understand it.

RE: PAD -- if you go through all the steps in filling out a PAD, does that make the rest of the fields when adding a download unnecessary?

there is a fair amount of duplication when filling out a PAD and the standard fields when adding a DL.

also, in Program Info --- which category are you supposed to use? Does it matter?

Currently the implementation of PAD reads:

Company_Info
- Contact_Info/Author_First_Name + Contact_Info/Author_Last_Name
- Contact_Info/Author_Email

Program_Info
- Name
- Version
- Description (250 chars, if empty 80 else 45) for 'short_desc'
- Description (2000 else 450) for 'long_desc'

- Application_Info_URL (if empty company url)

- Primary_Download_URL
- Secondary_Download_URL
- Additional_Download_URL_1
- Additional_Download_URL_2

- Application_Screenshot_URL

However it could be that we extend the use of PAD so it's always best to fill out each used field in the PAD.

First, let me say thank you for all of your work, and thank you to everyone else who has contributing to make Dragonfly the success that it is.

I'm sorry if this has been requested before...

I'm drawing on my experience as a user of the download module here on the dragonflycms.com website.

It would be very, very, very useful to see all new and/or updated modules since the last time the currently logged in user (or guest) viewed the downloads, and/or allowing the user to query based on a date (so I could say show me all new/changed since mm/dd/yyyy and get a list)

I check this website every couple months for updated/new modules, and it's tough because the current module only highlights folders with items that have changed/added in the last 3 days, which does me no good for modules updated last month. The "x newest additions" doesn't also help for files 8+. So I have to manually navigate down each path in the tree, and each page of a node, in order to see what might be new or added, and hope I don't missing anything.

I hope at a minimum you might be able to include a date parameter for the search, so people like me can say "show me what's new/updated since mm/dd/yyyy" and see what wonderful things have happened since our last check.

Thank you for the module, and thank you for listening. I hope we'll be able to see the fruits of your labor on the dragonflycms website soon.

Would be nice to implement

Program_Categories
Program_Category_Class
Program_Specific_Category
but i think we only need two of the above or even just one

and
Program_System_Requirements
Program_Release_Status
Program_Install_Support

Much easier to manage downloads now!

thank you for all your hard work. this is what i would like to see, the ability to add download url with spaces would be nice. adding %20 takes too long for me because i got like thousands of downloads to set up and they have like 3-5 spaces in the filename. i try to used the mirror system to speed things up, but it wasnt fast enough. i would like to see a feature to batch add downloads very fast. maybe using one field to fill in to represent a url i.e. www.site.com/dir and have like 20 slots to fill in the file name so they all have the url www.site.com/dir/filename
the download module should also have the option to make it viewable to a choice like to all visitors and can only download for group members.
