I was considering making another donation now that a new month has rolled around but it appears no one has updated rank images for the last donation, so I am wondering if its worth donating right now, or should I send my money elsewhere?

The way the current system is set-up the rank images are this sites way of acknowledging a donation was given (at least thats how I see it). When ranks aren't updated it means theres no appreciation of the donation. As such I'm inclined to look elsewhere, I don't think a simple acknowledgement asking much.

i donate $10 before but i didn't get Supporter Rank

You can always add your supporter too your signature like bigern has done, or was it Mystic.
I know one of them did.

Anyways as it stands:

Diamond Supporters donate $200-299 or more to support further development.

New special rank images will be given for each $100 above Diamond Supporter.

So you already have a special rank so thats cool too

I just wish my members were encouraged to donate just by giving them something as simple a new rank image every now and then.

check out how i've started to setup donations for my clan. first month we saw $180. i think it has a lot to do with how we've organized donations and how the rank images actually look. if you give more goodies to those that donate then of course they will want to climb the ladder to get them. just seems like common sense to me that this is how it should be done.

This is all relative to how many members you have, how dedicated they are to your site, and how much you can spare per member. Our site has about 230 members at this time with about 10 donations a month.

Most likely this rank will never be used but we have the right to dream.

Our clan members receive most of the this stuff anyway for being an official member of a competitive team representing us in gaming. So for their donations they receive other goodies. There is always a progression for being good. The more you donate or the better member you are the more you will receive. I wish life was setup like this but unfortunatley I don't think it is.

Dragonfly makes all of this possible with Groups, Ranks, and Forum Management. Oh and of course, none of it would be remotely as easy without Phoenix's port of the Treasury Module.

No offense, but if CPG was to make these kinds of offers with their donations (besides a simple ranking) then people are purchasing those 'packages' or privileges. It no longer becomes a 'donation' even though you may call it that so you dont have to pay taxes for it.

If CPG Nuke started doing this I would no longer see it as a "charitable foundation' and as Nemini mention, take my money else where.

at this point simply updating ranks seems to 'too difficult' can't imagine all of that

If one gains something over the other it should not be apparent amongst the users otherwise the problem Mel brought up arises.

Personally if i donate, a simple ' You are a donator ' rank will suffice, anything more such as ' You are a GOLD supporter ' etc is simply asking to be acknowledged of something more then those contributing less.

So i have to ask you, why does it matter what rank it shows as long as it shows that you donate?

Sure, but it was fun racing to Diamond and I'm certain the levels gathered more donations here then just the satisfaction. I think Mel and BigErn were in that race a while back along with me.

if a little competition fosters more donating whats wrong with it? Besides hasn't someone who's donated $300 deserve more recognition for their donation then someone who gave a dollar?
