Just curious, has anyone installed 9.0.6.1 fresh and got it to work?

cpg-gonzo & Mystic are you both using Apache 2? follow my signature to update your profile...

Do either of you have a dash in the db name(-)?

@Mystic

Numerous installs of 9.0.6.1, on Dragonfly recommended server setups (or better: Apache2, Php5), none succesfull ... (like many users here and on CPG-germany)

Allways had to install 9.0.5.0 first, then upgrade to 9.0.6.1 to get the cookies working ... but I never had any problems with database

hmm, Apache2 is not recommended server setup and is not necessarily better in this case.

quote from the main page
" What does my server require?
The prefered setup is to have:
- PHP 4.3 or higher.
- MySQL 4.0 or higher (PostgreSQL 7.6 or higher is also supported but still in debug stage)
- Apache 1.3 or higher (other httpd clients are also supported like IIS5/6, Raiden, etc.)
- GD 2, ImageMagick, netPBM or any other image manipulation software"

apache 2 was higher than 1.3 when i went to school, so therefore is a valid recommended setup

if you search the forums there are many places where we say Apache 2 is experimental at best and not recommended

Post subject: Re: New Install - Version 9.x ("Database Doesn't Exist")

i understand that akamu, but there is nothing to indicate that to new users and no reason to suspect apache 2 could be a problem, and therefore no reason to search the forums for that

in nay case its not a big issue, and i have had no other problems with my setup other than the install issue with 9.0.6.1 which i worked out by myself, having not long before installed 9.0.6.0 without problems

perhaps that is not the ideal way to go, but it was a simple fix that worked for me and has worked for many others

i do not mean to criticise, only to make things easier for others who may have the same problem. there is no point in every user with the same problem problem having to spend hours researching a solution for it when a simple reply may help, or a simple edit to the docs or main page Wink

The issue with Apache2 is very simple:

Previous versions identified themselves as "Apache/2" but now they identify as "Apache" and that's the whole issue.
PHP and Dragonfly assume Apache 1.x is used but actualy you use 2.x

Read the comment in header.php on line 58
dragonflycms.org/cvs/h...?v=9.17#58

see install.php issue dragonflycms.org/cvs/h...=9.12-9.11

PHP's INSTALL file wrote:

Warning

We do not recommend using a threaded MPM in production with Apache2.
Use the prefork MPM instead, or use Apache1. For information on why,
read the related FAQ entry on using Apache2 with a threaded MPM

You are highly encouraged to take a look at the Apache Documentation
to get a basic understanding of the Apache 2.0 Server.

Post subject: Re: Apache2 the story

Thank you for the info guys, most of which is well over a year out of date, and basically does not apply to the windows platform in any case

i have just browsed through it once again, as i did when i installed my server initally, and still can see nothing wrong with my current setup part of which is PHP 5.04, and bear in mind most guys who run their own home based server will have a similar setup to mine

i also would like to point out

04 Dec 2005 - PhpGedView 4.0 Beta 2 released

Version 4.0 beta 2 is now available for download. There are many significant changes and improvements in version 4.0. The most notible change is that version 4.0 no longer includes support for the built-in index mode. This means that version 4.0 requires that you use one of the supported SQL databases. We will continue to maintain the 3.3.x releases for continued support of index mode until PHP 5.x with built-in SQLite is more broadly available. as seen herePhpGedView Home

i therefore must maintain an up to date configuration to run other software i need, since i am already testing PhpGedView 4 beta 3 in preparation to porting the second version of my installation module for it

time marches on, and those that don't keep up get left behind

Apache 1.3 is already classed as legacy, and my version is out of date since Apache 2.2 was released some weeks ago

the simple fact is, the dragonfly 9.0.6.0 installer worked, the 9.0.6.1 one doesn't
