Post subject: To the future of Dragonfly

Hi, I'm new/nOOb to the Dragonfly community, but not a PHP nOOb...
The questions I ask are to quicken the pace of my knowledge of how Dragonflys inner workings run.
So that i can furthur contribute to the community.

With that said...

Suggestions -> Admin Control Panel
  • Admin Force Screen Resolution
    • Example: Table in Header <50%-Edge><1024px-MainSite><50%-Edge>
    • This prevents your modules from getting "crushed" when viewed at smaller resolutions
  • Admin Style Sheet Editor & Expantion plans
    • In the works just trying to figure out WYSIWYG Editor
    • Select and view your CSS files
    • Expantion #1: Validate your CSS files
    • Expantion #2: Color Schemer to plan your site look
  • Misc -> Date Convertion Tool
    • Example: 1041408000 = Jan 01, 2003
    • And the reverse
  • Misc -> Remove Main and logout submit buttons from top of admin pages and add them to the java menu

Questions ->Need some good input/tuts/links on making
  • Admin modules
  • Admin modules from /modules/"module-name"/admins
  • Module cpg_inst file
  • Templates
    • Example: admin/modules/groups.php is not a template based file
    • What do i need to know to do it right

Once i get a foot hold on how things work i'll be able to code custom blocks, modules, admin panels, ect.
And to the post spammers yes i know how to search, thanxs...
I can be reached via TeamSpeak2 Join if anyone would like to use it as a tool for modding

Suggestions -> Admin Control Panel
Admin Force Screen Resolution
Admin Style Sheet Editor & Expantion plans
These will never happen on default but, feel free to design a theme though.

Misc -> Date Convertion Tool
See includes/classes/time.php

Misc -> Remove Main and logout submit buttons from top of admin pages and add them to the java menu
This is good idea and had already run thru my mind

Questions ->Need some good input/tuts/links
Read our current resources, they are not finished yet since DF is still undergoing structural improvements based on developer responses.

Thanxs DJ...
Had already thought of adding the resolution size limit to the theme...
But want to be able to admin it.

The Style Sheet thing was more of a tool for user to see what there "th, td, buttons, ect, ect" would look like
This is 1 of my mods i'm working on.

The date time thing i need cuase with the recent date format change the dates are now all screwed up and i need to be able to change them back from some thing i can read and then format it back again...

Removing Main and logout submit buttons from top of admin pages and add them to the java menu... helps.
But the fact that there's 4 sets of menus is really reduntent

The Java Menu
The GraphicMenu
The Two Admin Blocks the full text based admin block i minimize and never use...

Somethings got to go... lol

More Java Menu ideas adding them to the
Main Setting
Replace with java menu
General | Maintenance | Cookies | Footer | Syndication | Comments | Censor | Mail | Debug | Miscellaneous | Security Code | config.php

System Info
Replace with java menu
General | PHP Core | PHP Environment | PHP Modules | PHP Variables | MySQL

You can have a admin section for your theme specifically, just add another adlnk_{your_theme}.php file to /admin/links and the admin itnerface to /admin/modules and get the current settings in the theme template between <!-- PHP --> and <!-- ENDPHP --> tags.

hmm what else, yeah i remmebr when i first came here a one-stop place to get a concise tutorial on EVERYTHIGN df related would've been nice, but i got it figured eventually.

What would be perfect would be a fully standards-compliant "dummy-module" that just has a "hello world" block and module, but acts as a example for the admin interface (modules/{MODNAME}/admin/index.inc etc) and language defines and tempalting and everything so that when someone new comes along you just point them to it and off they go, using it as a base template to design their own work upon.

But, alas, i am one busy man...

I haven't looked in awhile to see how complete it is, but a sample module and block come with the DF download.

There is JS Menu. I been looking CSS Menu since its give CSS more power to control color. If you going to say Java, since there is 2 terms that start Java like Java Applet or Java Script but these 2 are Totally different.
