I researched all the PHP books at Amazon and Larry Ullman had the best write ups, he has a web site for eratta, and he answers you in his forum. The books are Peach Pit Press, Visual Quick Start Series, good format.

I bought these:

Books on my shelf
[list]
[*]PHP Developer Cookbook SAMS- a fun book to learn the basics by example (or a quick reminder).
[*]Professional PHP4 WROX -first book/tutorial I found that explained php classes in a way i could understand, simple and advanced as it gets in a book.
[*]PHP and MySql Welling and Thompson a fair book for those not advanced or n00b
[*] MySQL Paul DuBois definitive when it comes to MySQL
