Post subject: 9.1.1 Release Notes

Finally the long awaited 9.1.1 is ready.

There are a few notes about this release:

Multi language web sites must upgrade their language pack (downloads section - certified secure).

If you were using Biggles blocks the system will attempt to upgrade your current settings to make those compatible with out integration of the same feature. Changes are:
store module id instead of module name, use a varchar column type instead of text, allow control of blocks in admin area.

There have been speed improvements in admin area by caching adlink and adwait files path for active modules eliminating I/O disk access at every admin page view. Page genration time dropped in some system by 0.25 seconds while in other faster systems only 0.1 seconds.

As you all know we made Dragonfly compatible even with the latest MySQL and PostgreSQL RDBMS.

The new security system will protect your website from bad bots, flooding also disallow email domain at registration time and bed referrers as well. All of those option are fully manageable since add/remove options are in place. It also allow you to specifically ban a single or ranges of IPv4 and IPv6.

Along with other improvements, bug fixes and features.

Please read this topic as well before you upgrade.

Remember to backup your files and your database before proceeding with the upgrade.

OK, it seems to be converted now.
The biggest problem was something with utf-8 was messed up, but I managed to replace some stuff it added into words with blank... that was my fault probably, as my database has some x encoding.

But upgrade went quite smooth and now I can start enjoying new possibilities.

Please excuse the n00b question, but I searched for documentation unsuccessfully and wanted to be sure I followed the right instructions before I screwed something up. Better safe than sorry in this case! Anyhow, do we follow the old instructions as far as "upgrading" an older version of Dragonfly CMS, v9.0.6.1 in my situation? From what I understand, we just upload the new files to the site, overwriting the old files. Then run www.yoursitename.com/install.php, correct? I just want to be sure before I, and others, take the plunge.

Thank you,

Tim

P.S.- I am VERY excited to see a new release! Thank you for your hard work! not worthy

Yes, run install.php

Obviously make sure you have a backup or the database, so if something does go wrong you're covered Smile

Great work!

Now let's see and report if any 'upgrade error' could exist.

From Changelogs page it seems that this operation can be error free.

As always, if anyone of us, find any bug please report them in the proper section or ask explainations in the Forum.

Wink

Did exactly that and it went mostly OK.
HOWEVER I lost all the users (it was a new site so no big deal). Any ideas on how to avoid that?
Also is it safe to upload the old style.css?

Post subject: Re: 9.1.1 Release Notes

I want to install 9.1.1. on a provider which has MySQL 4.0.15 installed.
And PHP version 4.3.10.
I searchthis site and found out that the PHP version should be OK.
But I am not sure about the version of MySQL.
On the homepage it says that version 4.0.x is needed, but on other places I found that version 4.0.18 or newer is needed.
The provider doesn't want to upgrade.
So can I safely install 9.1.1. on MySQL 4.0.15?
Should I expect problems? And which problems maybe?

From our home page regarding 9.0.6.1:
What does my server require?
The preferred setup is to have:
- PHP 4.3 or higher.
- MySQL 4.0.x

However 9.1.1 is suppose to be also fine, let us know for any inconvenience, if any.

This might sound dumb, but I am running the 9.1.1.rc2, and after reading the docs for 9.1.1 full, I do not see how to upgrade from rc2.

Do I just copy all the files over top of my old directory? Then run install from step 4?

I have everything backed up, so not worried about destruction, but just want to make things as smooth as possible.

I already set my admin.php, back to admin.php (I had changed it to something else, nice feature btw.)
