I suspended myself so I could have a look at the suspension page and it doesn't give very much information, it just says no information could be found for user id number and that you've been suspended, is it possible to have the reason for the suspension to show on that page also?

It does, but you have to view as admin in the members edit section.
Public display of the reason is not advisable.

Why is it not advisable. i would like my members to know why they got suspended rather than just a email saying there account has been suspended.

hmm, I can think of several reasons against "public display", including humiliation, retaliation and legal action.

I think what BlueFin and Diz are saying is why can't the user who was suspended see why he/she was suspended (as opposed to everyone else seeing the reason).
The reason they can't is because, being suspended and unable to log in, the profile page doesn't know that the person viewing it is the suspended user. You would either have to expose the reason to everyone or no-one, those are the ONLY 2 possibilities.
Is the reason given when you try to log in whilst suspended? If so, there's your answer.

The reason is given in the notification email sent to the suspended person.

What might be a better bet is to allow them to log in.. and just not do anything. I.e. the dragonfly install would say, "Sorry, but you're suspended for reason nnnn" and any attempt to navigate or do anything will spit up the same page referencing that they are suspended for reason nnnnn.

Imagining 973 forum posts where people are in a state because they see suspended users online in various blocks...

No.. redirect the user to a constant "suspended user" page.

Yup, kinda similar to an IP ban page.

If they done something stupid to get suspended they need to be humiliated, let them try to retaliate just drive my hits up higher, Legal Action? Bring it.

I still would love to see this done.. I'm not as familiar with php as I am with ASP, or I'd whip it up myself!

i think that this would be a great addition to dragonfly, i mean other sites on other cms's have this and they don't have legal action brought against them. all you would be exposing is their username and a reason for them being banned...not exactly personally identifiable info...and because it ain't personally identifiable info they can't sue.
