With all the features that phpbb 3 offers, I dont think Fpro even comes close.
not to mention the fact that scripts and add-ons for PHPBB3 don't work in Forums Pro.
Would love to see the update.
(I'm even considering running a seperate phpbb forums and get some other system for news and such...)
Example, GWBBcode. QuickReply/QuickQuote Scripts, add-ons.

What features are you talking about? And where are you finding any phpBB3 mods? The one here are all broken by the RC1 release, which will continue to happen until phpBB3 is stable at a 1.0 or better release for a few months.
Having downloaded and installed phpBB3 I have this much to say.....
It looks really kewl and a huge jump from phpBB 2.x.x however, it is completely incompatible with DF Forums and ForumsPro. There are aspects that can be ported over and trust me, we are looking at that for the 2.5 release of MwA Forums.

I am really only struggling with one piece of software, that I want to implement into DragonFly + ForumsPro.
I'm running ForumsPro now, with Community forums turned on, but with the "Forums" directory symlinked to ForumsPro. That way, all links maintain their usability and the urls stay nice most of the time.
The thing is, I run a site for our Guild. (Guild Wars) and the GWBBCODE, is critical

With all due respect to Large Community Sites everywhere, ForumsPro, in the very post you linked to, has indicated that we are upgrading the search on ForumsPro. I expect this to be done Real Soon (tm)
I was wondering whether there was any news on this? Nothing seen on the Myndworx site .....

Until they get this sorted out I would strongly advise people not to convert to Forums Pro unless they always plan on running a small site!

OK forget the MyndWorx people for sometime. I would like to ask the DF Developers if they have any plans of including phpBB 3 instead of phpBB 2 into the DF Core. I just browsed through a forum based on phpBB 3 and it felt really Kool. I would love to see it incorporated into DF once it is stable!

I don't think it will, it takes way to much time to integrate it.
If you knew how much time it has cost people integrating it into php-nuke and we for properly integrating it into Df, then you would never do it again.
If you want, you should do it. We won't!

Does this mean that there is no roadmap or any plan to change or enhance DF forums ever (or in the forseeable future) again? No implication, just asking.

- Gamers want a feature
- Schools want another feature
- Companies want less features
- Photographers want yet another feature
So, No, because we don't see any beneficial features that are nice for everyone.
The only improvements inside CPG-BB will be code/speed based and will have nothing todo with features just so because someone wants it.
We are no puppets on a string to do for whoever wants something.
Just what i said: If you want it, do it yourself. We already did what we wanted and more.

Al right, all right. I think I got it. Though I have never implied that I saw the DF developers as puppets on a string. It was merely a general wondering since I thought that the Forums where an integral part of and one of the main reasons for the very existence of CPG Nuke (just like coppermine).
Didn't know that this is not going to be the case anymore in the future (at least not to the same extend).
Just do not understand why people that dare to ask a (valid) question like with this thread need to get an answer like "do it yourself " in such a hard tone. If they were able to do it themselves I am sure they would. Wouldn't hurt to tell them in a nicer manner that there are no further plans for enhancements. I am sure no one would blame you for that.

I completely understand you Golem.
But sometimes we do get angry when yet another person asks it for the 1000th time without searching first.
As i recon, i did answer somehwere a year ago already that we don't integrate phpBB 3.
So to me it sounds rude when people ask again and again and again without searching/reading first.
A good example of such topic is "where are my right blocks".
This week i merged yet another 20 topics about this while it is in the FAQ and documentation, hack there's even a nice Flash movie around on the web.
I hope you understand why i sound in a hard tone once in a while.

I do understand your point exactly DJ Maze. I constantly seen those "where are my right blocks?" subject come up every other day. And I just pointed them to the right direction.
If it is not sitting right in front of their face (Didnt meant to offend anyone, but if I did. Sorry), they dont know it already been asked.
May I suggests putting those subject up in the sticky. I know it might not do any good. But at least it might deter down the new posts for these subjects. Like this one.
