If you run that in phpMyAdmin what is the result?

cfg_value 9.1.2.1

Recap:
Installed 9.1.2.1 at site No.1 & uploaded my 9.0.6.1 database via Dragonfly control panel but got the PM errors.
Then re-uploaded the install dir & install.php again & tried to run it, but it said "9.1.2.1 already installed"
Basically I couldn't re-run the installer.

So this morning I uploaded 9.1.2.1 to temp site No.2 & entered database details of site No.1 & ran the installer.
It went through the install process & now site No.1 works without the PM errors.
I've deleted temp site No.2 now.
I know that's arse about face way of doing it but for now it worked.

Does the installer only run from a clean install then? That's what it seemed like...

No, installer can understand if your last version was either 9.0.6.1 or maybe even php-nuke. All you have to do when upgrading is putting the database name, password, user password and cookies stuff, so it would be same as it was before, and then when you hit install button it actually updates your data, I know it might look confusing, just like it could have install a new database but it does update.

Now after upgrading 9.1.2. to something newer, it might be even easier, just upload new files and go to isntall.php, it remembers your site config and updates.

It's probably fine with your site now?
Don't over-complicate it Razz

I only had one database to juggle.
The problem arose when I came to install 9.1.2.1, I could not enter the db name, password etc of my old db as it was deleted, it was backed up in my docs only.
I could only enter new database details to initially install 9.1.2.1. The problems occured when I started importing 9.0.6.1 db files from my docs.

So for instance if i wanted to re-run the installer now and upgrade the data, what is the correct way to do it? What are the minimum files to delete/upload to get the installer to run again? (Not that I will but for future reference)

Anyway I see my post got a rename, hope it helps someone else later, if they've got time to read it all Wink

As Eestlane said in this thread and I said about 5 times in the other thread, simply upload the new files, navigate to install.php, and follow the directions.
