|
Hi, I have ben creating websites for sometime now with html, and now I am trying to start useing nuke.
I am haveing a problem, I cant seem to get my site to the install screen.
I am not sure of my server specs, but I am fairly confident my hosting server meets all the reqs, I am hosting through godaddy.com
Anywho this is what I have done:
-Created a new database with MySQL 4.1
-Uploaded all of the contents of the public_html file to my server
-CHMODED all the files listed
Now when I try and go to
my sites adress for the install (www.centralnjrotc.com/install.php)
I get an error saying the page can not be found. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I watched the video tut and it showed something about a config file, though there isnt one in the file I downloaded.
Some help would be great, thanks

Moved - well and truly the wrong section, wrong site even.
This is not a phpnuke or html support site!

Looks like a permissions issue - I can't even access any of the html pages that should be there

Move all your files up to your root directory - you've installed everything in
centralnjrotc.com/public_html/
The public_html directory of the package is meant as your root directory.

I am haveing trouble seeting my data base users permisons, when I created the database/user name, I had no options for permisons, and still can not find anywhere to edit permissons.
My sql looks like the one on the video but it says starfield technologies in the topleft instead of myphp.

I was referring to file permissions - I was trying to access the html templates, but evidently, I didn't try looking for a public_html folder (thought I did).
Looks like your files are still under a public_html folder (http://www.centralnjrotc.com/public_html/index.php) works. You CAN do this, but it would be more straight-forward install if you moved all files to the root.

looks like you have a folder called "public_html" in your actualy public_html.
When you uploaded your site, you should have opened public_html from your download and select all the items and upload them that way.

This is really newbie stuff. Did anyone bother to look there for answers before adding their questions here?
Just curious. Try a review of that forum and then post back succint errors please.
Also folks you NEED to update your profiles.....i'm not about to start helping to find out after wasting a lot of time that it's PHP or Mysql issues.
If you think it is a PHP or Mysql issue then specify that in the reply.
BTW (and it's been discussed hundreds of times) if you think your .htaccess is BLOCKING your requests, simply delete it then delete your cache, then try again. If it works then tell us:
1. What version of .htaccess this is (there is a revision line near the top, quote this entire line)
2. What file didn't work with this .htaccess
If it doesn't work, .htaccess is NOT the problem, again provide us with details and 'REAL' error messages.
Thank you for your cooperation!
