Post subject: Upgrading to 9.1.2.1 ? Posted: Sun Sep 02, 2007 4:46 pm |

I am planning to upgrade it to 9.1.2.1 soon as I have been waiting for the version to be stablize for a while now. Do I have to upload every files like new install or just the upgrade files? I appreciate any direction and hints from those who have upgraded on what to watch for.
Thanks

You should upload ALL files and then run install.php.
If you have any customized core files, you should check you have them backed up and then adjust the new core files AFTER the upgrade.
Your version listed in your specs in 9.2.1??

Not sure should I report it here or not but when I went to document to read the doc for upgrade dragonflycms.org/Wiki/id=2.html
I clicked on Conversion and Upgrade to Dragonfly, it led to the same page. Seems like of the link is wrong.

I am not aware of an upgrade wiki entry other than from 8.2c so it looks like the intended info hasn't been entered yet - it looks more like someone has just made provision for it.

I know I asked stupit questions but please forgive me for that. I don't want to screw up and then give you more serious problems to help so I have one more question before I uploading files to upgrade.
when you say "You should upload ALL files and then run install.php", wouldn't all my old files be overidden by the new files such as congfig or gallery files when I uploading them, etc.? What about my image files, etc?

Far from stupid, in fact your caution is commendable - you should always backup your database and also your website before any upgrade - then you can restore if you're not happy with it.
Better still, test the upgrade on a backup site and database - if you're happy with it, then you have the advantage of having stepped through an upgrade and resolved any issue before touching your live site.
The upgrade will not affect any of your own files you have uploaded, like downloads, gallery images etc.

So I just have to leave the config.php file as I downloaded it , don't have to fill in my specs. ? Can I overwrite it?
Because at my first Dragonfly install I had some trouble to fill in the right things

DF 9.1+ create config.php automatically and put it in includes directory. You still needs to know your info to fill them in when you run the install. Installation take care of putting the info in for you.

I have configured DF to suite my needs but I had a friend install it on the server. My skills are quiet limited. How do I upgrade to the latest version of DF. I have downloaded it but dont want to over write the existing site.
