Soon all languages will be UTF-8 encoded for greater interoperability between languages

With UTF-8 many different languages can appear on the same page and appear correctly in the web browser, to this ends we are converting the current language files to use this encoding.

To edit these new language files you must have a UTF-8 compliant editor like ultraedit or notepad2. We have notepad2 available for free download in our downloads section and further discusion of utf compliant editors is here

CVS is now currently being populated with the new languages and when complete we will offer new versions of the language packs.

is there a UTF-8 editor that has keyboard shortcuts for special language characters?

I have an English keyboard, and averytime I translate something I need to copy/paste characters like ă â î ş ţ Ă Â Î Ş manually.

I'd like to have keyboard shortcuts to speed up typing.

try setting your keyboard to "US International"
for keys that are not listed here
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map

Ctrl + Shift + S for Ş

I remember there wa an option in Word...

Aikon did not translate with romanian characters.

Ctrl+Alt+A = á
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+A = Á

If your keyboard layout is US international you can also do:
'e = é (note there's no "+" so type the keys after eachother NOT the same time)

Works in Windows 2000 and XP

DJ, where and how did you set that up?

my issue was solved using 2 locales with 2 different keyboard layout.
for anyone attempting this, you must reboot before changes apply.

am observat php-nuke de prima dată când am vizitat www.aikon.dap.ro şi chiar mă-ntrebam cum ai reuşit traducerea pentru cpg-nuke.

am deja toate privilegiile pentru a pune traduceri noi pe site. daca nu dai de akamu, mi le poţi plasa mie.
