|
Hello guys, I am trying to install DragonFly on my localhost. But as soon as I click the localhost/DragonFly (this is the directory where all the files have been copied), it gives me a message that
| Quote:: |
ERROR
You must install Dragonfly first before you can use it
[ Go Back ] |
What could I be possibly doing wrong? I am right now testing out the software, so that by next week, I can upload it to my domain server and start using it for my forum and site.
Thanks in advance.

Shame on me! Thanks on that.
When I installed Joomla, e107 and some other CMS packages, it directly went to the install.php.
Assumptions can be bad, eh?
Thanks again, have a wonderful day.

We're glad you made the decision to use Dragonfly
The installer couldn't detect which version of CPG-Nuke/PHP-Nuke you are using.
You can't continue the installation.
Please contact the CPG Dev Team |
Here is where I am stuck now. I did search through a previous thread,
dragonflycms.org/Forum...14528.html
on the same lines, but couldn't get a satisfactory answer. Any help appreciated.

What version of dragonfly, by the way.
Since you are installing locally and your WWW is NOT df site.
You need to provide as much information as you can, there are several versions of df, good luck with your "local install"

I am using Dragonfly9.1.2.1
Yes I am trying this out on my localhost. I am trying to make a choice between various CMS packages. I had actually wanted to go with e107, but I find some moderating features are not available with it. I also have a Joomla installation, but I came across DragonFly sometime earlier today, and though of trying this out. I like what I see here, but unsure how exactly should I go about installation.
I am on Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, Apache Web Server and MySQL data base. PHP 5
Frankly I am unsure what a PHP NUKE or CPG NUKE is all about! Is that a forum software or something? Isn't forum a part of DragonFly.
Please bear with my questions, never meant to be stupid.

CPGBB is the the type of forum module used by the Dragonfly CMS.
Its included with the core installation.
However, there is an unsupported "ForumsPro" Module that works excellent with Dragonfly CMS, but you have to get your cms installed before you can start adding other modules.
The forumsPro has many features which the 'core' CPGBB forum module that comes with Dragonflycms does not.
Only dragonfly coded blocks and modules will work with dragonflycms.
There is big difference between phpnuke and Dragonfly (old name cpgnuke) CMS. Its all about SECURITY.
You will have to research this on your own.
As far as your question posted here, I can not help you with a LOCAL INSTALL.
Someone else may be able to assist, now that you have provided which version of dragonflyCMS.

Build local server
How to install and setup a apache server locally to test your Dragonfly CMS
So you want to setup and run a server locally to test/setup our Dragonfly CMS or other.
This documentation will describe in detail how you can do it on Windows OS.
Good Luck!

Easiest way IMHO, whether on Windoze or Linux, to run localhost is to install XAMPP. (On Windoze you can use XAMPPlite as it has enough for Dragonfly.) It installs easily, and has everything preconfigured for Apache 2, PHP5, MySQL5 and phpMyAdmin and even eAccelerator, and managing starts and stops.
See apachefriends.org.

I already have my LAMP Server running, doesn't installing XAMPP again make a mess of my current settings?

Correct, those other systems mostly need an additional file (password) to protect the installer from being used by the wrong hands.
If you've read the README.txt you will have noticed our installer is different.
The thing is, that we allow you to rename install.php to anything you want so that it is somesort protected in an easy way (you don't have to remember a password).
How the hell does the system then know to which file you renamed it to? Right

Server posts removed to another topic - they're just muddying the water, tho part of whatrevolution's post was on topic.
If you install with an empty test database, the version issue should not arise - since DF said it couldn't determine your version, I am assuming you started with some sort of database that it cannot interpret.
