To sum it up: I hate it.

Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome way to handle the positioning. I've searched about every relevant phrase I can think of of. Why, oh why, is there no "Global Position Set" function.

I add a new block and I want it to be second on the right side. It's automatically added to the bottom of the right side. Now, I have to drag it's position 50 times to have it display correctly on every page. Evil or Very Mad

It updates fine. My gripe is that I have to reposition for EVERY module to have a cohesive appearance.

When you add a block you can choose the which module will go to and in which side.

Yes, you can choose the module and side, Nano. You cannot choose the position (first, second, third, fourth, last, etc.).

I'm already very aggitated with adding a block to, let's say, the right side on all modules then going through and manually dragging it to be the third block on the right side for EVERY module. Especially when the drop point isn't entirely accurate.

It would be nice to have, in addition to the regular update, something to the effect of apply module block positions to all modules.

EDIT: It's a very tedious process that has me on the verge of re-downgrading to an earlier version not even 12 hours after I decided to give the latest version a try again after disabling the pain in the butt UA checker.

I agree with you - it's very tedious to initially setup or when you add a block to multiple modules - BUT, it is VERY flexible! Being able to choose what blocks and exactly where they display for each module is pretty amazing. However - I'd bet the majority of board admins have the same block configs throughout...

Yes, it's very awesome indeed. Should I want to have blocks located in different positions on different pages, the function is there.

I just added 4 new modules and guess what I have to do? I have to go position the blocks manually because it positioned the blocks according to what the blocks are set as in the block options and in the order they were created. Instead of following the setup I already have manually configured to be exactly the same on EVERY single module before I installed the new ones. Sad

I agree about the blocks, the flexibility is cool, but I would use a default order checkbox in a second. Something like

* Order blocks in all modules like the home page. [check]

Then whatever happens to the home page happens everywhere (although it should still take account of removing blocks on some modules). This would be especially good for new modules (which as a mod dev is a big deal since I add and remove them a lot during testing).

I'd also like another option which is

* Don't add center blocks to all modules by default [check]

Checking this would mean that the center blocks would have to be added to each module by hand. Since I only use center blocks on the home page this save a lot of work turning them off for every new module.

I'd also recomment a more flexible system to determine, where the block would actually show or not show. In addition to a module-based restriction I often felt the need to set rules for specific url to be able to further adjust the block display even within a certain module.

I have to agree with the initial post about the block positioning system. Are there any plans to incorporate a global block order, with the option of moving blocks for each module to different locations if needed? Having to change the order for every module each time I add a block, is a huge pain.

I was quite exited to get this CMS going, everything seemed to work fine. Till I got to install the Treasury and is stuck down on the bottom of left blocks.

I searched and searched throughout these forums for a resolution, and seems many have posted questions/complaints on this with no real solution, just the same answer that points to setting the modules to "both".

Well I tell you with up to 3-4 hrs working on this, I'm quite disappointed. I used the default theme, tried moving default blocks to the right, (some did move, but try to move them up is a whole strenuous concept that doesn't work.

Moving the blocks from left to right, in that window there's a trash can that doesn't seem to do anything.

I've dealt with many cms' before, and thought of giving this a chance seeing that it's suppose to be an improved phpnuke.

Hopefully this will grab someones attention to accurately explain what is going on with this, and help those that want to stay with this CMS.

Admin pages will force all blocks to display on the left side, will probably change in future. Not sure if this explain why blocks doesn't seems to move.

Userland pages is a different story, every block shold reflect your settings (except your_account and coppermine custom blocks but side can be changed manually).

The trash can doesn't work ... clicked on update?

I'm not referring to the admin pages. I realize that admin page has only the left blocks. When I make a change, I always go to home page and/or forums to see if anything did actually change.

Every time I change the blocks from side to side in the blocks settings thing, then press update, everything is still in the same places, no change whatsoever.
