Keep getting stuck on Gather Important Information

For some reason I keep getting stuck on this page, I have even checked my settings in MyPHPAdmin on my site manager, to make sure my cookie domain and paths are ok, still can't get the darn thing working and its really starting to stress me out.

LoL im sure its some really stupid noobie mistake but im at my wits end and would sure appreciate some help.

seems like after i allow the settings to be default it gripes at me "ERROR: Wrong session settings" and then displays a session save path which was not there before "/var/php_sessions".

I have verified that there is indeed a php_sessions folder in the root of my file structure...

what am i doing wrong?

Does includes/config.php exists?
If so delete it and try again

well.. that did an interesting thing, it did some sort of upgrade script and demanded that i "REMOVE INSTALL DIR AND INSTALL.PHP IMMEDIATELY!!"

still didn't work though, lol.

btw i deleted the old site info and am starting from scratch, so it's a fresh install. dir structure is either home/(etc) or just /

working on an Ipower.com site..

Don't know what the heck they did, but after a while my hoser (hosting) site did something to resolve it after i called up and {expletive removed} at them about it.

i think they may have altered my database settings or something, anyway it installed finally and thanks for your help.

i left an inquiry on the help ticket i created with them asking for the resolution so as soon as i know i will post the results here..

oops, didn't know it was a bad word, it was a really mild one but sorry for that anyhow. it was the former in the phrase "_ and moaned" meaning complained. lol.

I'm not seeing a real answer he and before someone says to reinstall, this is teh 4 times, i have completely re-ftp'd the files and created a new db ...

It could also be your host that you need to contact just like Humboldt$_Fine$t did.

I am going to, but I'm not sure what this step is trying to do. Create a dir to save session information? Server-side info for client users? why is it not storing info in the db?

I get the the "Gather Info Stage" fill it out, test it it comes back failed ,with a new Session Save Path and /var/php_sessions filled in

lol, yep tried that, gets to db setup, tells me to remove the install files, and that's all she wrote, perma Maintenance screen

Like i said, this reload will be the fifth.

now im cranky gonna figure is out if it takes me a week

chatting with iPower tech support was the key.
