Post subject: Upgrading from 9.0.6.1 to 9.2.1

Okay, here's the story, I've inherited a Dragonfly site that is running a linux Apache server and Dragonfly 9.0.6.1 and I want to bring it to current. The catch is I think a fair bit of customization was done to the site when it was originally setup to get things running.

Is there any hope of getting this running the current version without an utterly nightmare? I know its impossible to say without knowing what was customized but what about just the issues going from 9.0.6.1 to current? Is it a direct path or am I going to have hassles?

Thank you.

AFAIK 9.0.6.1 should upgrade to 9.2.1 okay.

However, as we have advised others, you will have issues with a few modules and all old themes. Best to test an upgrade on a test site using a duplicated database, especially with your uncertainty on the site's history.

Problems will vary with your server specs - "latest of everything" is not helpful in such matters and I don't believe you own cnn.com.

The system should be fairly current otherwise thanks to apt. Smile

BTW: What do I need to update to make a test environment? I copied the file system and made another instance of the datatabase, updated the config.php to point to the new DB but it doesn't seem to like that. Are there any path configurations I need to update to tell it to use different files?

For an upgrade you should just upload DF 9.2.1 files to your TEST directory, then run install.php - just check your existing config.php uses the TEST database info.

DF should then proceed with the upgrade.

If not, then rename config.php and DF will regenerate it.

Check out this Wiki article on moving your installation - that should apply to creating a copy of everything also: dragonflycms.org/Wiki/id=79/
