Hi,
How can i take out the default form fields from download pro,like the author's name and submitted by fields.I am building a record pool and would want to be the only person to upload so i do not want my admin name to show up since i have created additional form fields which will display the name of the artist and title and all that.So i need to take those fields out.
Secondly,this is very important.Is it possible for my system to send an automated email to members when a new song has been uploaded.With some basic details about the newly updated song so that they can login to download.The site is very simple since its mainly for download purposes so i do not have any much extra pages.If there's an add on i can find which could help please i will appreciate if someone can point me there.
Thanx

I cannot tell you the effect of removing the fields you suggest, but provided you backup before you proceed a bit of trial and error may yield some results.In the Downloads Pro Themes/default/templates folder you can edit the manage.html template this page is for obtaining download details while uploading. If you are the only person uploading you could skip this.

To remove author name and submitted details from the download page open details.html and delete:
Code::
{L_SUBMITTEDBY}
{DL_SUBMITTER}
{L_AUTHORNAME}
{DL_AUTHORNAME}
{DL_AUTHOREMAIL}

I've never made these edits myself and cannot predict their effect, backup, backup and backup again!

Use the newsletter system the closest thing to an automated email though members must choose to receive it in their account preferenes.

I think that will require a coding change, the simplest way would be to remove the menu itself and offer the links you wish to remain in another way. To do this remove
Code::
{DL_MENU}
from index.html

Thanks for your response and help.I was able to get there with your link but if i disable uploads,wont that prevent even the admin from uploading files?
On the upload page,what does this mean?
* Download Title
* Download Access
* Download URLs

I dont get especially the last one.What do i input there?

Have a look at this guide I made for my members a while back it will show what each field is for.

Disabling uploads will not prevent admin from uploading.

What are the mp3 files you are uploading?
Be aware of copyright. I should also mention that you do not have a valid website in your sig.

Hi,
You are the man.Its working now but the url download is not working.When i upload a file from my local computer,it works fine but when i try to input a url from my other websites with exactly the url address,i get error messages like this is a website address and not a valid file or this is not a file name.
This is an example of a url i am trying to link.
www.mydomainname.com/m...9_hifi.mp3

Any ideas?
Thanx.

That link is a downloads pro page, you need to link to the actual location of the file on your server and the link must end with a filetype.
http://www.mydomain.com/uploads/downloads/file.zip

Hi,
Thanks for all the responses but i think am not making myself clear.
When you say that link is a download pro link,do you mean that i cant link to an mp3 file from another website that is not using download pro?
Based on the link i posted how would you link to the file and how and where would you place the extension because mine is mp3?
And the link is valid,try it again.

You mean lack of hitting the preview button?

mydomain.com/uploads/downloads/file.zip gives a 404
