Introduction

When i noticed a lot of people hate MS Outlook as mail/calendar software due to the lack of support for many "standard" protocols i started my search for applications that are similar to the beautiful KDEPIM (kmail, kontact, kalendar, etc. etc.).

I discovered that the solution is right under my nose (although not fully stable as of yet)!

Some awesome people started and built the "KDE on Windows" project.
It even supports plasma as shell!

So after reading this post i thought i write some more about it in a new topic since it meets more then just email

My test

Install

So i've installed Windows 7 Ultimate in a new VirtualBox virtual machine.
Downloaded and ran kdewin-installer-gui-latest.exe
Only installed a few things like kdepim and plasma

Kontact

After the download and install was completed i executed bin/kontact to see if it actually worked.
It works!

Plasma desktop

How about plasma desktop?
Executed bin/plasma-desktop
It works!

Cool, now take a snapshot to see the result
You see the difference in taskbar size?
