I won't be releasing any more stuff for DF nor will I be active in the community much from now on.
BrokenCrust.eu will most likely remain active until the domain expires next year, but it's not guaranteed so if you need something best take it now.
I wish you all the best.
Thanks.

I read the post on your site explaining your decision and I have to say I agree with you.
DragonFly is looking pretty poor these days, no choice but to install modules you might not want, no central commenting, voting, or content tagging systems, no Javascript framework, no native AJAX support. Take a look at this site's home page and then compare Joomla or Drupal, it still looks like an old *Nuke site compared to their "web 2.0" feel.
Personally I'm only working on my competition module at the moment, and it's still DF because porting it to something else would be more work than I could contemplate at the moment.
Sad to see you go, your work is top quality and I've always admired you for the contribution you've made to the community, particularly all the projects you completed for DFBounty when it was around.

I'm sorry to hear that. I use your modules (MD, Crosswords and Kudos) and find em valuable, well written and pretty functional and love the idea to make the kudos system site wide. You'll be missed.

So true, but we have your class at least, which rocks.
The lack of a JavaScript/ajax framework is an issue but implementing one is'not a pain, but i'd like to DF team choose one as standard (not develep one) as JQUERY, witch ads functionality and opens a large field to play with the interface and the system. Image Editors, sortable tables, ajax and so on.
The jump of DF to a "modern" system will shorter implementing a JavaScript framework. Also a simple CSS framework as 960gs will be appreciated (but is a personal decision, DF offers freedom, maybe too much? ;D).
We should make a project like the "One Hundred Paper Cuts" for Ubuntu?("to improve user experience in Dragon Fly by identifying 100 small points of pain for users, or "paper cuts", and healing them" edge.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts )
Any thing we can do to get you to stay? If Not, Good Luck and have Fun.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and your understanding.
I don't mean to be down on DF or those that work on it and I'm not leaving because I'm upset or annoyed with anyone or anything in particular here, but rather just setting out my stall. I haven't really been developing DF stuff for a while now and I think by annoncing that I am stopping and closing BrokenCrust.eu I am just being honest and hopefully managing your expectations better.
I will still have a DF site and I expect to continue to use it for a while yet and whilst I may contribute here now and then I am stopping development. As a user of DF I am mostly happy - it does what it says on the tin. As a developer of DF I am now mostly unhappy - and that's not a good way to spend my time.

Some JS libs: YUI, jQuery, Scriptaculous, xajax
There is no XHR implementation because everyone wants something else and it may conflict.
I have created an XHR system that is way more powerful then any of the mentioned libraries. It also has a DOM system which converts IE to be DOM compatible so that jscript behaves like JavaScript.
We could implement it all but who wants it, and where?
Joomla and Drupal aren't any better, it just depends what you want to use it for.
I understand why people move to different systems and why others move from any system to this system.

Damn, homie, you better trade your time to something better then.
I get you 100%, I guess we all do. But I felt like that ages ago, and made my mind up, that I'll support DF as long as I can (free host helps a lot too).
You know, I tried Drupal one day to test out one Drupal module... it was all great and everything, but it was actually slower than Dragonfly. I was happy to see that
Writing anything for Dragonfly must be a hobby, or else there's no way anyone wants to do something. But wait... I don't think any other developers do open source projects as their job too, except maybe some Linux programmers (does Canonical actually get any money out of Ubuntu?).
You should start a blog, you've cool writing style. Või midagi sellist.
You know what's really annoying? Something's wrong with one of the ventilators in my PC. In every 5 seconds it makes some damn farting sound... can't even let The 4400 to download overnight...

I guess that is kind of what we are doing on Phoenix's Site with his upgrades to ForumsPlus, AccountPlus, etc. The improvements he is turning out are IMHO addressing many of the niggles with DF.
