To those who have been following Pro_News development, either as a user or with an eye to adopting it when complete, it is done!

That's not to say that development will cease, I'm still actively supporting and improving it. But the base functionality is - in my view - complete. I've been able to implement a couple of sites using just Pro_News, Forums and Coppermine, the last one to a Brand Company's predefined design, which I was able to meet to the pixel. So my original goal of being able to build websites with just my one module has been attained.

This version adds an easier way to display a single article on the Home page. Adds a lot more power to the templating internals, and completes the work started on the prior release for different display methods per Section. Advanced templates for Featured Content Displays and Blogs are available in My Store. And lots of small but important improvements to make Administration of the module that much more enjoyable. And finally it has built-in support now for 70 social network sites!

Thanks for extensive beta testing go to rosbif and fishingfan.

French, German and Spanish translations have also been updated, and Swedish added. (Thanks to rosbif, designSumpf, aforo and radoka.) Earlier versions of Arabic, Indonesian and Norwegian are also available. All languages can be seen and demo'd on my site.

If you haven't looked at Pro_News yet, then you really should. It can be easily employed to build news sites, library/reference sites, sales sites, real estate sites, as well as small business, corporate and support sites. All within standard unmodified DragonflyCMS. Why would you want to build the entire site in just ONE module? Try it, and you'll see! Wink Look over my website, and follow the links to some of the sites which I've built using Pro_News to judge its power.

[ Plans for next release already included further improvements to RSS, a new catalogue of articles display courtesy of rosbif - which could serve as a Site Map if Pro_News was you main module, a new compact display for all 70 social networks as developed for the Blog template - see demo, and more. ]

As always the download of Pro_News is free and does not require registration (either here or at layingback.net). If you want to make a small donation, in the form of PayPal funds or a translation, then as a thank you you'll be added to the Sponsors group, with access to additional help and hints, plus opportunities for involvement in betas and to influence the ongoing development direction.

Using News_Pro makes think about redesigning my whole website (the main one). not an easy decision for me, but now thats complete...

I caught the /joking, but it was a long decision and a tough call to charge for add-on templates, but I think it is the fairest way overall. It means that the base product can remain free for everyone. But I have to cover my costs somehow. I had thought of charging for support instead, but somehow that seemed counter productive, as it is through support that many of the the product improvements occur.

So hopefully this will be embraced by the community. You can always look at it as a small donation - with a template as a thank_you!
