Post subject: PH2_Blue broke for no reason.

I've been using PH2_Blue on my website for about 5 years, and its been great.
We upgraded to 9.2 about 6 months ago, and its all been good.
Had to update to a 9.2 version of PH2_Blue, but we found one and it worked. and has worked well for months.

However recently a strange issue occurred with it. in which in some browsers, the site stopped loading.

More to the point, it loads, but loads as a blank page.
This first occurred to a friend of mine using Firefox 4 beta a few days ago.
The next day, the same thing happened to me, in both IE and Firefox 3.6 then it happened to a few other mates using different versions of Firefox.

Screwed around with the site a bit and discovered that it was only happening with PH2_Blue
So, I have been forced against my will to change theme.

The interesting part was, if I loaded the site in Firefox's Private Mode, the site would load. but it only loaded about 3 times before that was affected also.

So using chrome I changed the theme.

I have since been around looking for new themes, and have discovered that some other sites using PH2_Blue are suffering the same issue.

Has anyone seen it before, and if so, how to fix it?
as I really want PH2_Blue back Sad

oh, that was you. :-S my bad, I took the username literally, thinking that someone had signed up, then didn't want an account at PS.

I will un-suspend the account and enable user-theme switching.

as for CMS Dreams, I was googling around for a new theme after I worked out that only PH2_Blue was having issues, I came across CMS Dreams and it wouldn't load, then I remembered it had PH2_Blue also (cos ive been there before)

I just reloaded it then and grabbed a screenie....
I also just checked with 2 of the other 3 people (That I know of) that had the issue on my site, One of them can load it (FF 3.6.6 (Same version of Firefox as me)), the other cannot (Firefox 4 Beta).

:::EDIT:::
Found it! there was a rule in AdBlock plus blocking some segment of code that was causing it to all break - gaurenteed thats whats happening on the other's pc's also.
the bad part is, i disabled the rule in ABP thinking id be able to get the code it was blocking out of the list again.... wrong. it failed like a giant sack of .... you get the point, either way apparently disabling the rule deletes it... so....
ROAR! - when scarface gets online (one of the others that had the issue) iil get him to get me the offending code in it, and iil post it here. cos it was just a small section, unique to PH2_Blue, no idea what from in the theme, but it was causing Adblocker to block the entier site in one hit.

Started with Easylist USA, then grabbed the rest. so im using all.

(Still waiting for scarface to come online - Damn he sleeps a lot)

:::EDIT:::
Scarface just came online and gave me the info i was looking for.

Found what AdBlock Plus was picking up on.
Any idea where the following codes are written into the theme? and what id have to tweak to stop ABP detecting it?

Code::
Filter: ~mail.google.com##table[cellpadding="0"][width="100%"][style^="border: 1px solid rgb("]
Addres: ##table[cellpadding="0"][width="100%"][style^="border: 1px solid rgb("]

I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to find what this filter is actually picking up on in the theme. any ideas would be appreciated.

Guess, open header.html of
themes/hp2_blue/templates/header.html

and find:
style="border: 1px solid #000000;"

and replace with
class="table_border"

then open:
themes/hp2_blue/style/style.css

and add:
.table_border {border: 1px solid #000000;}

And test.

Also, Easy list is enough for blocking ads.

Thanks, I will look into it. I see where I went wrong in looking for it also, I was searching through the files for exactly how the filtering rule was written, but as you have pointed out it wasn't exactly the same - that's why I couldn't find it.

InspectorClueNo wrote:

Guessing by the fact that the filter has in it mail.google.com in it, a random stab in the dark guess would say it may have something to do with a bad detection for blocking adds on gmails site. but I'm not sure.
