Sorry I have no idea what the issue is either but none of the browsers I have installed / use on my laptop work for the admin section of the site. Now I can use ANY browser on my desktop and workstation with no issue. Only difference from Desktop to laptop is the processor. Desktop has a dual core and the laptop is a single so the desktop runs Windows 7 Pro 64bit while the laptop is running 32bit. that is the only difference. all browsers installed and configurations are 100% the same except the desktop does have IE8 64bit and 32bit and both work fine. So there has to be something wrong with the laptop but I have no idea what or even where to look as I just rebuilt the image not even a week ago.

Re differences between desktop and laptop, have you checked that the hosts file on both?

Can you access admin.php at other sites, such as this one, from your laptop? Ie. is issue at server end or laptop?

nothing in either host file except the standard jargone that comes stock

i can not access the admin.php page on cpgnuke from laptop. just flash it up then goes to page cant be found. desktop and server have no issues. side note here - i have tested this with IE8, FF3.6, and GC just to make sure it wasnt a single browser having an issue.

keep the ideas coming cuz i am stumped

ok so my laptop is now making a liar out of me. i can get to the cpgnuke.com/admin.php page using FF3.6 so now there must be an issue somewhere with my site and my laptop and still no issue access the admin page of my site on my desktop or server. this is really a weird case

please keep the ideas coming

Few posts didn't have a proper answer. I'll write you a check list of things to check.

Quote::
[ ] Check DF configuration settings.
[ ] Disable firewall and antivirus on your laptop.
[ ] Clear DF and browser's cache.
[ ] Check .htaccess and other apache configuration directives.
[ ] If php runs as cgi, disable mod_dav if enabled.
[ ] Make sure DF's default theme is intact and unmodified.

What do I check / check for with DF configuration? This is a brand new install with the only mod being the install and usage of ReDesign3 which has no changes made to it

I run no firewall, not even windows firewall on any of my machines. I have a front line firewall / gateway appliance called Astrao. I have bypassed that piece of hardware completely and still no change

I have cleared DF and browser cache more than once with no change

there is no longer any .htaccess on my domain or any sub domains / folders

php does not run as cgi and mod_dav isnt even installed

In order to get ReDesign to work per the documentation I've found on other threads, I have to rename the theme to default in order for it to work 100%.

hope that answers all questions to this point. let me know if you need more info.

Side Note - which probably needs a new thread started for, but anywho I can not get DF (any version) to install on WampServer. I'll dig through the forum before I get to bent out of shape.

it is worth trying to use an original default theme, close the browser and try again ... just create a backup of your current default theme

Code::
admin.php?op=settings&s=2
SERVER_NAME as Cookie Domain = No
else Cookie domain = blank
Cookie Path = same as admin.php?op=settings&s=0 site path

After you entirely over-written the default theme I wouldn't call this "a brand new install" anymore.

which WampServer version you have 2.1a?

If your version of DF 9 CVS is old enough for you to really need the 'overwritten default theme' then the following file includes/functions/display.php must be version 9.66 or earlier. (You can check by looking at the comment near the top of the module's code.)

If so apply this fix, and restore default theme from your install zip.

If not, then you do not need to copy any themes over default, so please restore from your install zip.

(Overwriting default theme is inadvisable because the default theme is there as a known base to use in just your situation: trying to debug a configuration problem!!!)
