when members delete themselves, the admin simply gets an email...
why not have it when the member decides to delete themselves, they must fill out a reason ? : )
so when they click the delete account button, they must fill in a field that once filled they may submit to delete and instead of a plain jane email telling the admin they were deleted, the reason will be emailed along with it...so we can keep track as to why members delete themselves...
thanks!
p.s. maybe develop further and possibly add a drop-down menu reason list... i.e.: lack of content, decided to create a new name, didn't like the site, didn't like some members comments, etc.....make sense?
and once in the future the members prune feature may be available, the email to auto-delete members will say "auto pruned for inactivity"
thanks again chums!

The option of allowing/disallowing user self-deletion is visible in admin.php?op=users_cfg section of cpg9 (cvs). It works perfectly (I think), I don't know if it will disabled untill cpg9 final. (I hope not...):)

the option is there but the ability does not exist. Admin deletion of members in 9.0 has been completely stripped out. I keep forgetting to ask/remind DJ to see if user self deletion should also be removed.

I know DJ removed the ability for admin to delete on purpose.

no he's not cooking up anything, the function was removed for a reason, and will not be returning unless someone takes the massive amount of time to build a delete function that works properly.

Hi ...
ok, did I get it right, that there will be no user-(self)-deletion in 9.0 ?
Too bad, we in germany NEED this function, because we have to allow user-self-deletion by law
Is it just the forums or do other modules also have problems with deleted users ?
We had a similar problem, when we included phpbb in our Nuke5.5 ..
we modified the delete-user-function, so that it will delete all userdata
and sets all forum-posts to userid=1 (guest)
| Code:: |
mysql_query("update ".$prefix."_bbtopics set topic_poster=1 where topic_poster=$uid");
mysql_query("update ".$prefix."_bbposts set poster_id=1 where poster_id=$uid"); |
That fixed it for our system ...
please correct me, if I did get something completely wrong...
(and sorry for my bad english)
