I'm so lost. Can someone write up a little tutorial on how to do a basic theme/customization with cpgnuke theme.
The code base has been made extremely more complicated.
I absolutely hate the changes in Your_Account. When you click on the Your_Account link information is supposed to be displayed in the main page not a little block. It's illogical i'm sorry. It confuses the crap out of me why it's there and no like the normal way in the index page where it SHOULD be.
There are too many things about dragonfly that I really dont like. The javascript header. Totally unecessary! You've got your admin navigation, user navigation, and javascript menu. 3 menus? Please take out the javascript menu it looks very nice and all but it's not needed.
You guys are taking out features that people need and adding in ones that people dont. Sections module, gone. Unnecessary javascript menu, added. Your_Account link in the menu header, gone. Confusing Your Account block, added. I know you guys mean well and everything but you are messing up what was a very user friendly interface and replacing it with illogical and frustrating features.
The blog is a great feature but that's only 1 module. The admin options are better and thank god for changing the name of ephimirds or whatever. It still shouldn't be core though.

The My Account block is the best option that is ever added.
I don't gonna tell you in detail why but trust me: 20 graphical images in the My Account module does suck and there will be 0 themes that will support all 20 images.
So think and ask something before you rant and rave that a new feature sucks or why something is removed.
Maze over and out (my next respond could be nicely written depending on the post)

can't please all of the people all of the time, you can only please some of the people some of the time.
That being said if Dragonfly isn't to your liking stay with 8.2b ... it really is that simple.
PS - if really does bother you so much how come you never commented on it about this site? Seems to me a bit late to say you don't like it since you've been using it on this site for months now.

I have commented on both the account block and the my account link being deleted. Maybe no one was listening or doesn't care etc... I know everyone has their own preferences it's just doesn't make any sense to me why these things are added or taken away.

The change is for the best, its called progress, its so much more flexible and organised and allows for easier modification.

I was talking to a guy who knew nothing about anything, just wanted to start up a site, he said to me "Yo, where do i get the themes for php". I verified that he meant php-nuke, and then i told him that cpg nuke had more features and was much more secure. I linked him to cpgnuke.com, and he told me that "that sites too confusing". At that point i just gave up and linked him to all-themez. I agree that maybe the site should try to become a little more user friendly...

I find it very user friendly *shrug* I think some people are just too ingrained into the puke way and too resistant to change.

I understand your frustration, let me address your issues.

Complicated as in different from what you are use to seeing in phpnuke but in reality themes are easier to mod. I will try to write something up that goes over the basic of modifying one of our themes.

When you click My_Account you see content not just another menu as 50% of the screen, to see other content click the new menu ...simple... and I agree one of the best new features.

you can turn off the other admin menus here:
www.treasurecoastdesig...s#comments
at the "Administration Menu Layout" but I agree there should also be a setting to turn off the js menu there

Are you sure the functionality isn't there with categories and content... btw the addons are not done yet...

Since it's just a block that can be turned off, who cares, it's not big enough to stand on it own...

Hard to work with 9.0 themes?....
Maybe i'll send you mine once its finished and you can just edit that as you may understand a little more.
I could go through my theme once its done and add comment lines indicating what does what, its really simple once you start playing with it, i've started a second theme i'm enjoying it that much.
I'd have to disagree about the account module, its grown and become something much better then it previously was and i could'nt wait to use it after seeing it here.

Yes, it's a little difficult at the begin because we still think 8.2 to do things and I guess we need to start thinking like an insect (dragonfly) now. It will take a few weeks.
But like Mini said the change is always for the best.
Thanks to the TeamCPG.

I understand that cpg wants to get away from the phpnuke layout. My point there is that whenever you click on a link no matter where it is. The content of that link always shows up in an index page not a block. For such an important feature for users to customize their preferences you've got to see how that would be confusing.
When you have a web surfer that is used to little html sites and then they visit a cms site sometimes it can be a sensory overload. Especially if there are rss feeds, marque blocks, etc.. I'm sorry I don't like the block. Make it an addon like it should be. All content belongs in index pages. There is no sense in putting the main content of a module in a block when you can code a block to do is as a replacement. I'm sorry but it's illogical. I loved the way the your_account module was in phpnuke. It was simple and effective and users "got it". This is a step backwards.
Also stock the cms comes with all 3 menus activated. I know how to turn off the admin menu I was talking about the javascript menu not the admin menu sorry about that.

hmm, not so much getting away from phpnuke as making it more functional.
I reckon the new block is terrific, and once you get into the code, you can use exactly the same technique to create your own module specific blocks.
When I bring up a specific module, the top left block is relevant to that module e.g. nukebiz.com/Resources.html where I use that block to show categories.
