I have, but they haven't been able to come to any conclusions. Also, could we remove "solved" from this issue since it was only that one person who solved his own issue?

Success! My web host, Globat.com, finally figured it out. To make it work, I needed to comment out:

ErrorDocument 400 /error.php
ErrorDocument 401 /error.php
ErrorDocument 403 /error.php
ErrorDocument 404 /error.php
ErrorDocument 500 /error.php
and
AddDefaultCharset utf-8

After that, it all worked. Yea!

oops it was because i was using the same htaccess for my local copy. my local didn't work unless i commented out the 3. then i forgot about it when uploading it via ftp. recommenting the 3 fixed it.
