We need some way to manage, see and unsubscribe from threads besides going to each individual thread. vB has it. IPB has it. SMF has it. phpBB2 has it. we're the only ones who don't, sadly.

Do you mean something like this? It is one of the features I plan on porting from my current website.
Wow. Bad image editing on my part.
The top section is "Your Favorite Topics" and the bottom section is "Your Watched Topics".
Watches are the same as always, an email is given whenever a reply is given to one of your posts.
Favorites are a list of topics that you like. No notification is given, other than updates to the favorites list.

I shall be writing something like this in around 3 weeks time. I shall release it when it is done.

Cool. Two different implementations will probably lead to a better version for Dragonfly.
Then one I've done is effectively just a port of the Favorites phpBB hack to PHP-Nuke (yeah, I know, my current site needs to be switched over -- gotta port stuff like this before my users will touch it though! )
How you guys wanna see it released? A set of patchfiles?

I would prefer to see it released as a module, so that it can be installed and uninstalled seperately and so upgrading the core won't destroy your site.
The whole "hacking the core" ideology of PHPNuke and phpBB generally****** up the development of the core, something which would do alot more to hamper general development and spread of DFCMS.
Edit by Phoenix: please refrain from obscenity.

agreed, especially with people running CVS and the large number of updates there are. I look forward to this!

Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure how the module approach would work out, since it would kinda be an integral part of the forums.
Here's hoping the devs like one or both or a combination of both of our approaches and integrate it into the core.

I would do it as a module, but I can't think how it would work. Maybe somewhere in the forums calls all forum-related modules, So only few extra lines of code added then all future forum-based modules work? Anyone else have any sugestions?

Wouldn't it be possible to have it work inside forums, with one file to call the module?

I can't think of how it'd work either, Luke... other than the hook-type method you mention.
Even then that would introduce quite a bit of workaround feeling stuff.
The version I'm working on touches several different files in the Forums module, including the themes. I'm still working on separating it from the old codebase, so I'll have a better idea of what can be done shortly.
