Post subject: Re: 9.0.2.0 already installed?

I think this is going to quickly spiral out of control. I found the "blocks" table and deleted the Sommaire option from it. I now get
Code::
includes/cmsinit.inc
CMS Warning line 555: The function getusrinfo() is deprecated in Dragonfly. Please use the global array $userinfo
CMS Warning line 555: The function getusrinfo() is deprecated in Dragonfly. Please use the global array $userinfo
includes/db/db.php
CMS Warning line 51: On /nuke/admin.php?op=cpgmm While executing query "SELECT count(*) FROM albums" the following error occured: Table 'retro_worldwideretronet.albums' doesn't exist In: /home/retro/public_html/nuke/blocks/block-CPG_Stats.php on line:

I don't think the script did what it was supposed to or there should have been some further caviats before I killed my site.

Any help is appreciated.

1. did you upload ALL the files? (seems like your using the 8.x version of some things)

2. did you upload the files for all the addons the you use? (8.x downloads, weblinks etc will not work in 9.x)

I started with a fully functional 8.2b with quite a few mods. I then:
2) Edit the file "config.php". Change all the fields until you are happy with
the changes and they fit the need of your web site. Give special attention
to the database configuration section. When you have finished editing
config.php, save it.

3) Now upload all content from the /html directory to your webspace.

4) CHMOD the following file to 600 (622 if 600 fails):
- cpg_error.log

5) CHMOD the following directories to 755 (777 if 755 fails):
- cache
- modules/coppermine/albums
- modules/coppermine/albums/userpics
- uploads/avatars
- uploads/forums

6) In your web browser go to mydomain.tld/install.php
The setup will install/update your database.

*************This process did not go smoothly************

After the database is created you will be prompted to insert additional
information and, if it's a new install, to create the super user account.
Create your super user following the on-screen instructions.

7) Login following the admin link (http://mydomain.tld/admin.php)

Now click on "Main Settings" and change whatever you want to fit your site
info. All the options you need to change are in the Settings menu.

Cool After installing, delete install.php and the /install directory!

I didn't see anywhere where I was supposed to uninstall 8.2 mods, or do any further preparation, so the mods that were on 8.2 were there. I assumed that the overwritten files of 9.0.2.0 would superscede all possible options and require step by step setup again if they were compatible and IGNBORED if they were not. My mistake.

My problem is that I have a site with over 2000 active members that has now been down for 24 hours and I have absolutely no idea how to get it going.

1. move aside your current files to a directory called OLD

2. upload a complete set of new files, INCLUDING all addon modules you use (these may need to be downloaded seperately)

3. edit config.php

4. if this does not fix the errors AND you cannot get into admin to do it there go into the database and turn off all modules and blocks.

5. once the system is working you can turn things on one by one, core items have have no issues, items downloaded from 9.x downloads section on this website should have no problems, all other items WILL have issues if they have not been designed for 9.x.

6. once you have things back up you can move the files you need from OLD back to their proper place (ie: things like your photogallery pictures, uploads etc).

Post subject: Re: 9.0.2.0 already installed?

Thanks You for your help.

I have a virgin fresh 9.0.2.0 up and running. I do not want to add ANY options untill I get this running. Can somebody please give me, or point me to a list of, the specific database tables I need to move to get the standard core data (members, forums, news, galleries, etc.) transfered over to the working virgin fresh install of 9.0.2.0?

I greatly appreciate your dealing with my ignorance.

Regards,

Slammer

UNCLE!

I just restored my 8.2 from my last backup. I am not doing this again until I get smarter or the process is easier.

Thanks for your help, especially NEMINI!

*sigh*

The upgrade process is fine within the core. However third party modules written specifically for 8.2 (c'mon most mod authors don't write things to work on multiple schema's...) will have a lot of issues with 9.x. We have mentioned this ad nauseum.

So remove any third party modules and blocks or....

Upgrade your database on a new install directory, and move your blocks/modules one at a time and debug them until they are working with the new system. Or you can trash them if they are too much trouble.

My quote for the day:

Prior Planning Prevents {expletive removed} Poor Performance...

Post subject: Re: 9.0.2.0 already installed?

Please understand that I am not complaining about your work, the script, or the process. I have a very busy and active site. Two days of downtime was unacceptible. As I stated above, I know the problems are my own lack of skill and understanding of SQL. If I did not already have a 70 hour a week day job, plus the chores of running a large site, promoting and managing bands, raising two kids on my own, and somewhere finding a life of my own in there somewhere, I would take the time to learn what I need to learn.

As stated, I have a virgin 9.0.2.0 up and running and simply wanted to transfer the core data from my 8.2 over to it (member files, forums, and etc.). I understand that when you guys say "go to your database and turn off this and move that" it makes perfect sense, to you. However, try to imagine the database as if the whole thing were written in Chinese and you might get an idea of my predicament.

When nobody responded (and still hasn't) to my questions, I had no choice but to restore.

Again, these are my own problems and I do not blame nor expect correction or assistance.

Keep up the good work on Dragonfly.

Post subject: Re: 9.0.2.0 already installed?

Slammer follow the following steps and tell us WHEN you get in trouble.

1) backup the database (documentation/BACKUP.txt)
2) create a second database on the server or your local system
3) inject the backup in the new database
4) extract the 9.0.3 package on your local/remote server in a NEW directory
5) modify config.php to connect to the NEW database
6) run install.php
7) login as admin and check if there are errors
Cool install your 8.x modules ONE at a time and check if it works DO CHECK if someone made a 9.x version available already.

If a module fails then search if someone has same problems, else post it in a new topic.
DON'T post errors of say 20 modules in 1 topic.

That should help you on the way, and when evreything works upload everything to your current website.

Post subject: Re: 9.0.2.0 already installed?

I keep having this problem and its only on 1 site, and it works on my other sites that are on the same server. It just says 9.0.3.0 is already installed.

EDIT: Fixed by just changing the version # in the database to 9.0.2.0
