Post subject: Supporter Icons in memberlist

I think it would be nice for all sites to have a supporter type program and a new table row in the memberlist for small icons to denote who is a supporter.

I got the idea from going through the dragonfly supporter list. Sure it says we are all supporters but it doesn't say who is what level of supporter. For those that pay a huge amount of money for a plantinum supporter i think it would be nice they should be able to show it off next to their name. yes it's in the forums but for that kind of support here and hopefully all sites...it's a nice thing to give your members.

I'd agree I was surprised that the big spenders weren't separated from us smaller kiddies. Though hey I'll get it up there eventually lol. Once I get all the specialized stuff coded I'll stop using up my monthly budget and will be able to contribute more to the core cpg folks.

We could add the rank image like as another column.

You just need to get a lot of people active for this Smile
Oh and 1 column has to be deleted or it won't fit

How often do folks check the donations anyway?

Might be something to put up there ... "Donations are checked every month", or something like that maybe.

The system is almost fully automatic but chokes on €uro's + Dollar$
We just check our emails once a month.

And by speaking about emails i think the column on the members and group list are pretty useless and the "rank" would be a good replacement.

ahhh okay! I just threw a wee amount in there, I can wait, maybe I'll be able to free up some of the ol' budget to throw more into the proverbial pot soon!

I agree maze. I never ever ever make the memberlist public because it basically makes it wide open to spammers. so taking out the email from the lists would be good. if someone really wants to email someone it should be done using the phpmail function to start the contact or something like that. that would cut down on abuse.

you could get someone to make different colored versions of the logo to denote levels of supporters.

Would there still be a masked email available, or the real email stored for admin viewing only? I think this is a very good idea.

Post subject: Re: Supporter Icons in memberlist

wouldn't it be best to have in admin section which columns the admin wants the userlist and grouplist to display? and to whom?

i dont like the idea of this site applying its own website designs onto the rest of us who rely on the core and admin flexibility...not hard-code changes...some of us dont want the ranks and want email column back...

but besides that, i believe that stuff like that should be a selectable admin function - especially if its just a display/aesthetics issue...

for instance, i want to be able to view my members emails (private or not) as before - but true to not display because of possible spam - so a fix would be to have admin display email column to admins only...etc...

thanks

Post subject: Re: How do we get email back in members list?

The simplistic way: go to cvs/html/modules/Members_List/index.php and get the last revision that showed e-mail instead of ranks (9.5).

Mind you, this will also bring back bug #516. In the future you may miss other important updates or fixes.

A better way: study Differences to 9.5. Edit ../index.php every time before you upload a new revision.

Make sure that only trusted people get acces to all those e-mail adresses if you don't want your members to get spammed!

The same goes for Groups. Go to cvs, look for the revision with something like 'changed email to ranks' and check all changes since that revision.

Edit: Maybe you could leave the current Members_List intact and try to install a modified and stripped Members_List_9_5 just for displaying e-mailadresses. So you would link to this one only when you really need to provide emailadresses.
