Post subject: Signature limits

It would be nice to have some features where much like avatars, you can control signatures.

Examples of things that would be helpful:
  • Allow/disallow images
  • Allow/disallow animated signatures
  • Allow/disallow certain image types
  • Set the length (such as over 255 characters)
  • Set total size (Such as a 10kb limit for images in sigs, etc.)
  • Option to "Check length" of the total characters enter into the sig

I've seen other types of forums with things like this and figured maybe others would like this too.

Edit: Just noticed you can also see this bug in the poll. Hope it was reported in the right place a while back, if not I apologize.

It's been asked for before and for a long time, and there seems to be no real interest from others.

I find that 255 characters is just too small due to some things I put in my own signatures and other members have requested that it be extended as well. InvisionPowerBoards has the feature, unsure about others. IPB maxes their sig length out at 5,000 characters which is nice, and they have a javascript to check the length too.

I was wondering if it's at all possible to modify this in phpMyAdmin?

Use search and implement the changes yourself - not as if it's an original issue.

I love how nice and supportive some of the staff is here. Especially when search doesn't work well. :\

I searched and found this: www.cpgnuke.com/Forums...ength.html I think phoenix is just a little tired of answering questions more than once Wink

search for signature length, which is the subject of your last few posts, and you will find a comprehensive answer - search works fine, when used wisely, see our FAQ dragonflycms.org/FAQ/cat=12.html

Wow man. I know how to use a search, I use them all the time every day. phpBB type searches do not work well.

That's strange tarun.
I searched "signature length" and choose "Search for all terms"

The result:
dragonflycms.org/Forum...ength.html

So regardless of the ' who knows how to use the search ' ping pong, it would be nice to see some on-topic discussion.

I think it would be a good idea, and in my time here i see the question brought up before and remember it being more an issue to implement then a matter of noone wanting it.

Personally, i think it would be great to have those features.

I’d use it. Features like this would be helpful.

I need to limit width and height for signatures in my forum. Is there a way to hardcode these values?
