CMS Definitions

  1. Administrator
    A user granted the ability to administer the portal

  2. Banner
    A custom advertisement that can be displayed in a block or at the top of the page

  3. Block
    A box that is shown on either side of a standard page

  4. CMS
    Acronym for Content Management System.

  5. CPG
    Coppermine Photo Gallery
    A powerful photo gallery that is built-in to Dragonfly

  6. God Admin
    The first administrator created, usually during installation. Only one God Admin can exist

  7. Group
    A way in which administrators can group users, assigning individual access rights to each group

  8. Headline
    An RSS feed from another website. Headlines can be predefined by administrators or users can choose their own sites to grab headlines from

  9. HTTP Referer
    A logged hit from another website with a link to yours

  10. Message
    A piece of text written by an administrator that is placed on the homepage. Messages serve a wide variety of uses, including: announcements, reminders and welcome messages

  11. Module
    A plugin or add-on that increases functionality to your site

  12. Rank
    A way of identifying a user by the number of posts they have made. Special ranks can be assigned to any user

  13. Super Admin
    An administrator with full administrative access

  14. Theme
    A "template" that will change the look of your site in every aspect. Themes can be downloaded from many places, including dragonflycms.org

  15. Today in History
    A collection of entries that are shown only on the specified date. It's basically a "today in history" archive

  16. Topic
    One of the ways of classifying news articles. Topics are easily managed through the administration menu
