djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. IF YOU DO THIS,
djmaze 1.1 YOU WILL HAVE YOUR SITE UP AND RUNNING IN JUST A FEW MINUTES.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 Base Requirements
djmaze 1.1 -----------------
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 In order to setup CPG-Nuke, the following prerequisites are necessary:
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 - An (Apache) Web Server (http://www.apache.org)
trevor 1.2 - PHP version 4.3.x or newer (mod_php) Apache module (http://www.php.net)
djmaze 1.1 - MySQL database server (http://www.mysql.com)
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 This doesn't mean CPG-Nuke won't work with other configurations, OS's, DB's, etc,
djmaze 1.1 but we only provide INSTALL instructions for the above configuration.
djmaze 1.1 In fact CPG-Nuke works under Windows (all), FreeBSD, OS/2, MacOS, etc.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 Setup of these required packages is beyond the scope of this document and if
djmaze 1.1 you are unsure you should check with each of the appropriate web sites for
djmaze 1.1 further details.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 Installing the Package
trevor 1.2 ----------------------
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 If you are going to upgrade your website start at step two
djmaze 1.1 If you want to run a CVSWeb read the CVS.txt documentation carefully before you
trevor 1.2 install our CVS bundle onto your website
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 1) Create a new database, for example, 'cpgnuke': mysqladmin create cpgnuke
trevor 1.2 OR add a database through your web control panel.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 2) Edit the file "config.php". Change all the fields until you are happy with
djmaze 1.1 the changes and they fit the need of your web site. Give special attention
djmaze 1.1 to the database configuration section. When you have finished editing
trevor 1.2 config.php, save it.
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 3) Now upload all content from the /html directory to your webspace.
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 4) CHMOD the following file to 722:
trevor 1.2 - cpg_error.log
trevor 1.2
trevor 1.2 5) CHMOD the following directories to 777:
trevor 1.2 - cache
djmaze 1.1 - modules/coppermine/albums
djmaze 1.1 - modules/coppermine/albums/userpics
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 6) In your web browser go to http://mydomain.com/install.php
djmaze 1.1 The setup will install/update your database.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 After the database is created you will be prompted to insert additional
trevor 1.2 information and, if it's a new install, to create the super user account.
trevor 1.2 Create your super user following the on-screen instructions.
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 7) Login following the admin link (http://mydomain.com/admin.php)
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 Now click on "Main Settings" and change whatever you want to fit your site
djmaze 1.1 info. All the options you need to change are in the Settings menu.
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 8) After installing, delete install.php and the /install directory!
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 Testing the Installation
djmaze 1.1 ------------------------
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 Go to your homepage, for example:
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 http://mydomain.com/index.php
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 To login as administrator:
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 http://mydomain.com/admin.php
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 This will give you full administrator privileges to your installation of
djmaze 1.1 CPG-Nuke.
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 Remember to logout from admin after you use it. From this area you can
djmaze 1.1 delete or add content on your site, so never leave your computer without
djmaze 1.1 logging out from the admin account.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 We recommend the use of MySQL-Front or phpMyAdmin. Those are good
djmaze 1.1 administration systems for MySQL databases.
djmaze 1.1 www.cpgnuke.com/downloads/mysqlfront25.exe (free version)
djmaze 1.1 www.mysqlfront.de (30 days free)
djmaze 1.1 www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 We also recommend setting a password for your MySQL access. This is
djmaze 1.1 important as some data in the nuke database is not encrypted, so for
trevor 1.2 security reasons you need to set a password. Not only that, it's a good
djmaze 1.1 practice!
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 Final Notes
djmaze 1.1 -----------
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 That's it! You're done with CPG-Nuke. Just navigate around, play with it,
djmaze 1.1 abuse it and if you like CPG-Nuke, use it. Spend some time getting used to the
djmaze 1.1 administration interface.
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 To change your site's logo, go to the /themes directory and make a custom
djmaze 1.1 logo for each individual theme. Just navigate around all themes and change
djmaze 1.1 the graphics you want.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 We removed quite a few modules from the CPG-Nuke package and put them in
trevor 1.2 a directory called add-ons. You'll find the Journal, Web Links, Downloads and
trevor 1.2 a few others in there. It's very easy to install them. Just copy the contents
trevor 1.2 of whatever module you want to install to your root directory. For example, to
trevor 1.2 install the Downloads add-on, copy the contents of the /add-ons/Downloads
djmaze 1.1 directory (/admin, /blocks, /images, /modules) to your root directory. Log in
trevor 1.2 as admin, then activate the module. That's all there is to it! Your module is
trevor 1.2 now ready to use. Any blocks that come with the add-on are also now ready for
trevor 1.2 use. Add them the same way you'd add any other block.
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 A note for the CPG-Nuke site's administrators: Only admins can view the
djmaze 1.1 following data in the site:
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 - Administration Menu
djmaze 1.1 - Number of New Submissions
djmaze 1.1 - Edit button for each link in Web Links
djmaze 1.1 - Edit and Delete options for each Article
djmaze 1.1 - Delete option for each comment
djmaze 1.1 - IP/Host address of the comment poster
djmaze 1.1 - Moderation option and button (if set for admin only)
djmaze 1.1 - and MANY more...
djmaze 1.1
djmaze 1.1 PS: When you e-mail us asking something, just remember that we receive A LOT
trevor 1.2 of e-mails a day! We don't answer, but for sure we'll read it.
djmaze 1.1 Your best bet is to visit the forums at www.cpgnuke.com/Forums.html and post
djmaze 1.1 your questions there.
djmaze 1.1
trevor 1.2 ** A special thank you to all the people who have helped is in CREDITS.txt **
