Archived ⇒ would it hurt if I added this to my htaccess file... ?

I want to add a 301 redirect so if people enter mydomain.com into a browser it redirects to www.mydomain.com, this is for the benefit of search engines who aparently see mysite.com and www.mysite.com as separate sites.

would I be able to add the following to my htaccess file without any problems:

Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourwebsitename\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourwebsitename.com/$1 [R=permanent,L]

thanks
