Archived ⇒ Cannot seem to change my admin password

Using this page I changed my forgotten password.

Then I tried to use /admin.php?op=admins&modify=1 to change my password. Unfortunately, when I type in my new password on both lines, it doesn't seem to take. Anyone have any ideas?

Is this an admin password? If so, do a search on this site for an forum thread on how to reset the admin password. You could feasibly follow the same instructions for resetting a users password, but really why wouldn't the 'forgot password' function work for your needs?

It is the admin password. I did follow the instructions. The problem is that it doesn't retain the changed password. I can't get the "forgot password" function to work, either. It just comes up with an error message. I'm just going to scrap the install and start over.

Not a bad plan if it's feasible. Also this time around put your site into full debug mode and review the output from this.

This should tell you why your database is not getting changed.
