Hack attempt? Exploit? (Visitor list soars over 50...) Reply to topic

I am so positive that this must have been asked before, but I can't find it. Embarassed If it has, just a link would be helpful, thank you. Smile

On occasion (once or twice a week), we watch our visitor list explode - where we ordinarily have 1 or 2 unregistered visitors, it will suddenly spike to 50 or 60, and then die back down.

The location being visited varies, but includes calendar, PMs, forums, photo gallery, etc. The location urls look like these:

http://www.mysite.com/index.php?name=Groups&g=http://www.theirsite.fr/extension/randomletters/morerandom/morerandom/ http://www.mysite.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=search&search_author=http://www.theirsite2.com/*dumb*punk/MType/archives/randomletters/morerandom/

Is this something to worry about, or just more kiddie entertainment? Thanks again...

Nothing to worry about and yes, asked very many times in many different forms.

Just live with it or ban the IPs, but you could spend many hours banning an endless supply of proxies.

Of course, running the latest version of DF does further minimize your risk.

I figured it must have been, but couldn't find it. Thanks for the reply.

The latest version of DF came out just as we went live with the new site - our theme still has some bugs Wink , so I've been procrastinating the upgrade until I can replicate the site into a test environment... (my to do list isn't getting shorter LOL)

Thanks again. Smile
