Great, thanks!

Could you change includes/dragonfly/modmanager/setup.php line 116
$this->setVersion($prev_version);
into
//$this->setVersion($prev_version);
Something is wrong with your modules table, the 'version' field is NULL but should be a string.

The upgrade system now creates a special log file "upgrade-{prev_version}-{new_verion}.log"
Only the last few lines are important.

I just added a version "0.999" to the modules that had NULL or no value at all.

With a re-run I come to this point:

There were still some errors in the log but now that I want to copy lines the file is gone... I will re-run soon, but at least the cms_bbprivmsgs and cms_bbprivmsgs_text need to be named correctly to match script/database name. Either in the script or in the database...

So, tried again, same result as above. The Logfile disappears, the rollback seems to go also over the file creation...

I managed it to tail the data live into another file, here is the output of failed activities incl. reason. I think it is not complete, especially because there is no fail at the end...deletion seems to be quicker than piping into the other file...

Here are the "Failed" entries with context (1 line above, 1 line below):

Any new suggestions?

The setversion was related to the rollback process, but we shouldn't run into it at all.
How do I prevent the update log from being deleted after rollback?

It looks like there should be a renaming of the tables being not found, this is from the df10 repository:
./modules/Private_Messages/install/cpg_inst.php: $this->add_query('REN', 'bbprivmsgs', 'privmsgs');
./modules/Private_Messages/install/cpg_inst.php: $this->add_query('REN', 'bbprivmsgs_text', 'privmsgs_text');

The shown errors are due to either race condition or just errors in my DB?

Yes, the upgrade process continues when upgrading a module fails.
This is done so that you have a working Core and go to admin area to fix the module.
However, there is an error in the Forums upgrade that prevented to try and upgrade any other modules.

I've tried to fix this and you should try again:
  1. Download and install the latest source https://scm.dragonflycms.org/core/archive/default.tar.gz
  2. Drop all database tables
  3. Run your v9 backup.sql into the database
  4. Run the install

It did say "Dragonfly 10.4.54.9473 has been installed successfully." so the admin should be accessible to you anyway.
Keep in mind that should work, and that you can go to Admin -> Modules and try to fix the broken module(s) there.

Thanks DJ Maze,

I tried it today and the process went very long and produced lots of logs.

Unfortunatley, the update stopped with the following error which I would expect to happen in the beginning, not at the end:

Pre-upgrade steps:
Synchronizing Database Data:
. . .Invalid DB structure, already v10.0.9.37+?

Please contact the CPG-Nuke Dev Team about the error
You cannot continue with the installation

The database was dropped and recreated with the same data that I used the times before. The module versions have been set to 0.999 for all modules with "" or NULL in that field.

The update log only shows:
[13-Jun-2020 09:45:24 UTC] SQL->delete(security_agents, agent_name LIKE "Google%")
[13-Jun-2020 09:45:24 UTC] SQL->delete(security_agents, agent_name LIKE "Yahoo%")
[13-Jun-2020 09:45:24 UTC] SQL->delete(security_agents, agent_name LIKE "Yandex%")
[13-Jun-2020 09:45:24 UTC] Invalid DB structure, already v10.0.9.37+? in /var/www/vhosts/<domain>/public_html/includes/dragonfly/setup/upgrade.php@38

The error log shows:
PHP Warning includes/dragonfly/setup/upgrade.php line 474: unlink(cache/upgrade-9.4.0.0-20190911.lock): No such file or directory

But I again saved at least a good potion of logs, they end up with

[13-Jun-2020 09:43:26 UTC] SQL->query(UPDATE cms_modules SET uninstall=1 WHERE title="Private_Messages")

I will try to find the version that at least ran through with errors and check how to fix those afterwards...for this it would be a great help if the logs would not disappear after failure.

Best regards

So today I grabbed some beer and started over again.

When I empty the following tables, the update process runs through with only one error:

- cms_bbprivmsgs
- cms_bbprivmsgs_text
- cms_bbsearch_wordmatch
- cms_bbsearch_wordlist

Those tables carry roughly half of the database size! So now starting with ~1GB of data:

=================

I do not really care about the search index as I assume it can be rebuilt, but the priv messages should not be missing when we move to the new server. With all data the coming back with complaining about the database structure was after 11 minutes, with cleaned data the update was done in 2:21.

When I now look at the migrated site it looks odd, but I knew that already and dumped the cms_blocks and cms_blocks_custom tables from the original DF10 over my database. This helps in partially having a familiar look and feel, I can fix blocks on the right and left hand sides later. At least I am now able to access the several admin panels.

When looking at the modules I have the option to upgrade the forums module (which failed upgrading) from 1.0.0 to 3.2.4
When I hit upgrade I receive the following message:

"Upgrade failed: Subquery returns more than 1 row"

The full list of messages in the error log in cache is:

It would be really great if you could help me with those two hopefully final big issues that prevents me from moving to the new server. Forums and PrivMsgs are kind of essential in the site.

Hi,

I thought if we can run the update with less private messages, maybe the number of postings is also soemthing that creates the forum update glitches.

So we are currently downsizing the database as much as possible, there are lots of postings that are not really needed anymore.

Unfortunately pruning fails due to the amount of topics / posts, the forums exceeding ~ 2.000/2.500 topics result in somehow blocked database. Sometimes data is deleted, most of the times not. Same as deleting the forums itself. Currently I remove the topics page by page with mod rights and ticking all of the boxes page by page...very annoying and long taking process.
I did not investigate into the db structure to find out about the linking of posts to topics to forums and maybe the searchlists and more. Can I just delete them or do I have to take care about more tables when doing that like attachments?

Is there a way to perform the deletion with a database command? And maybe later checking for orphans and have the db cleaned up again?

We are still running on DF 9.4.0.0

We also try to reduce private messages as much as possible with changing the configuration of number of allowed Private Message. Is there any experience with reducing them and the corresponding reaction of the system? Will it delete the oldest messages in the relevant folders of all users? How likely is it that we end up badly with stalled process doing half of the job due to the heavy load and blocking database?

Any help appreciated!

Best regards
Lutz
