Archived ⇒ floating text menu css?

this is for an html page, not php
i was trying to create a text menu, and was wondering if anyone knew any good tutorials on float in css. or possibly a java script for doing this

i want the menu to always stay on the screen when it gets scrolled down

Will work in moz/firefox.
IE needs javascript to do the task.

There's an example in the dragonfly theme as "alternate stylesheet" called "Meadow 1".
It will load an image on the background and stays there, but in IE it will scroll.

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):
Fedora 25 / Apache 2.4.27 / MariaDB 10.1.26 / PHP 7.1.10 / Mercurial

all i have been able to find has been in style.css
could find anything on meadow1 anywhere
body { background: #FFF url("../images/bg.png") no-repeat bottom right fixed; min-width: 610px; margin: 10px; font-family: Verdana,Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px;

is this called in theme.php all i could see was class=select pardon my ignorance if that is how css is called in new themes.

how could i alter this float in the top left of a page, but be text instead of an image?

thank you for your response, i can see in my head how this can work, i just cant produce it.

as i said it's the alternate stylesheet
cpgnuke.com/cvs/html/t....css?v=1.1

Which is hooked to header.html line 10
cpgnuke.com/cvs/html/t...l?v=1.5#10

border:0px; display:block; z-index:2; position:absolute; left:0; top:0; min-width: 610px; margin: 10px;

are these css properties for images only? or instead of calling it in an image tag as an id. could this be used in a div class?

the <div> should have an id/name and you use the CSS or JavaScript on that
