[edit]Version 2.0.6 is available. Click here for more info[/edit]

I am currently developing a Jokes module based on the idea of the original Jokes Module by Jordo.

I thought it was not so easy to navigate, read, rate and comment the jokes, so I have written the module form the beginning.

As you can see from here, some things are missing (like sending the joke to a friend, rss, print page, votes details, modification request, etc).

Before finishing the module (I'm currently developing the administration section, and then I'll code the blocks) I would like to know if you think subcategories are necessary for managing Jokes. From my point of view a simple category is enough. To support subcategories is a little hassle and I would first like to know if there is anyone interested in this module and think that subcategories are essential

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):
FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE/ 1.3.31/4.0.18/4.3.8/9.0.3.0

1)Looks good. I thank subcategories are necessary. I like them because if you are looking for one type of joke you can go straight to them you do not have to read them all.
2) I am interested in this module

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

I didn't mean "simple" categories but subcategories. Big grin

Example:

Blonds
-->over 40 years old
-->young
Army
-->navy
-->air force

were "blonds" and "army" are the main categories, and "over 40 years old", "young", "navy" and "air force" are subcategories of the main categories

Main categories are definitely supported. Do you think subcategories would be useful?

Ok then, I thank subcategories are not necessary. That is going why to deep.

I think this would be great...as better nav is always better...have to think like the end user.

Is the database structure the same...or would we need to reenter?

The database is not the same but it is upgradeable, so you won't need to "reenter"

The Joke module is a great module for a lot of things! In fact it is so great that it is a shame it is called "Jokes"
Why not name it something more neutral and let people use it for anything from poems, jokes, stories etc...
