I am on a quest for the best open source software. I have tried joomla, mambo, xoops.

I have not installed dragonfly as of this writing. It is loaded in the server and needs config. I may get to that later.

I am currently running a pile of sites, each with different platforms etc. Joomla, did not seem freindly, mambo seems nice, and from the specs and features DF looks awesome.

I do want to incorporate forums, picture galleries. I notice coppermine mentioned (seems like a great gallery), phpbb, and some other open source softwares.

I currently run smf, phpbb, yabb forums, and I like the customization of the yabb best. Can yabb be incorporated to the dragonfly?

phpbb seems to be brutal, is the forum with dragonfly better written?

Anyway, for the most part I am self taught and do fairly decent setting up things up.

My question? Well I guess it would be: "Is the dragonfly community friendly?"
I sure hope so.

OK I'm new to dragonfly, but it looks cool.
I have a compitition with visit.moosegal.com (mambo)
and snailrider.com soon to be dragonfly!

The Dragonfly native forums were originally based on phpBB, but they're forked so radically that they don't have much in common anymore. Dragonfly forums are now known as CPGBB.

YaBB: Maybe some kind of a bridge for users and logins. It's a bit of a tough one since it's perl and flat files.

Hi Sarah, kindof an odd name for a cranky dude Floor laughing

Is this forum the phpbb? It seems to have some signature marks left on it.

The yabb I like because of the wysiwyg editor for templates etc. Just way nice.

I don't mind the flat files/perl and in fact, I actually started to venture into that arena for other scripts to use. I presume I can use a wrapper if neccessary right? But as far as a bridge, for one login, probably not possible then?

I will post my creation in DF once I get rolling. Just doing all the heavy uploading from my high speed connection, then off to the peace and quiet of my dialup for the rest.

But in case your are not a cranky dude here, this is for you 🌹

The CPGBB, yes.

I'm sure a YaBB bridge is possible.

Lol thanks for the flower!

Like Sarah said, the Forums are based of the phpBB, but since then it doesnt follow the ground rules of phpBB. So, many changes had been put into it to where the Forums itself had been changed to CPGBB. But ofcourse there will be trails of phpBB, because as mentioned already. It is based upon.

BTW! We get cranky once in a while, we just take turns. Wink

FYI! Sarah is definately a cranky dude. Wink Floor laughing

Ah you guys (and gals) are way to kind.

Of course you have my permission to use the pic. Actually, sooon, very soon, my gallery, pics, screensaver section will be up and running. All free! I will also be offering free custom banners too, (I hope). Yea, I have mambo at the freehelpings.com site, but I think I will use DF, because of the picture gallery.

I have seen where coppermine and phpbb have been integrated, but I hope DF saves me some steps.

I just picked up a new camera, wooo hooo, so my pics should be even better.

I have way too many sites all needing attention Shocked I sure have high hopes for this DF cms. And getting a good rapport with the help forum sure can't hurt, especially if I have probs configuring it.

LOL Hey I just set up two dragonsfly's wow, that was real saweet. I have set up forums blogs etc, but this installer is awesome. (godaddy hosting)

I did get to mess around a bit in the controls, and things look pretty nice. Next step, customization.

As far as shopping cart, well I really have to stick with the open source stuff. Since my site freehelpings.com is billed as a free site and free sourses for the beginner, I kindof have to stick with that stuff. Which means I have to learn it too Shocked

I used gimp for the graphics so far, and it is ok. blender? AArgh!
