We just upgraded from 9.0.6.1 to 9.1.2.1

One of my users cannot get in from any of his computers (using firefox) and one of my admins cannot access it by using IE, but can through Firefox.

The error I'm getting from my mail says:
On /index.php?name=ForumsCentreBlock
While executing query "DELETE FROM cms_session WHERE host_addr='EŒÜÌ/' AND guest=1"

the following error occured: Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation '='

Collation only works with MYSQL 4.1 or greater as recently reminded by Nano). Upgrade your Mysql first if your using 4.0. Really you should be on 5 by now Wink

Many users don't have an upgrade choice, in which case they should seek another host who provides at least 4.1.x - when the issue is a free host, you get what you pay for 😉

My host is Bluehost. They state that they're running:

PHP version 4.4.7
MySQL version 4.1.22-standard-log

and from the phpMYadmin:
# Server version: 4.1.22-standard-log
# Protocol version: 10
# Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
# User: tgwbcom@localhost
# MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
# MySQL connection collation: utf-8_unicode_ci

I think I've met the minimal spec you've described. Is there any other information I can give you to assist? Many thanks for taking time to help.

1. what is the content of /includes/config.php
2. what are the cms_session field collations?

If I strip out the 'personal' stuff (password etc) you get the following in my config.php file:

if (!defined('CPG_NUKE')) { exit; }

define('DB_TYPE', 'mysql');
define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8'); // NULL (is default), latin1, utf8, etc.
$dbhost = 'localhost';

$adminindex = 'admin.php';
$mainindex = 'index.php';
define('CPGN_DEMO', false);
define('CPG_DEBUG', false);

With respect to the cms_session field collations:
where it shows the 6 different fields, the collation column has latin1_swedish_ci where the column type a varchar

but under "Row Statistics" it reads utf8_general_ci

I'm just posting again in case the 'trail' goes dormant after two weeks of no activity. I really hope there is someone who has worked through the issue (mentioned above) and with the information I've supplied, can give some direction. Thanks.
