Archived ⇒ Transferred Servers now .html pages are missing

Hello.

I just transferred servers and my database and php pages are running fine (I can log in and it shows all the members, stories, etc). However, when I'm on my front page, if you click on any of the (html) links, the pages aren't there.

Any suggestions.

I took my site off maintenance mode if you want to take a look.

Ask your host if they have apache mod_rewrite enabled.

Yes, it was enabled. I don't know if they know what they're talking about (especially with this program) because all I hear from them is that there is no forums.html page in my directory.

Any more suggestions, please?

Thank you.

we use mod_rewrite for our Link Engine Optimization so

index.php?name=Forums will be re-written as Forums.html

the use of mod_rewrite is optional and you can disable it from your main settings page (disable LEO) but is highly recommended to have it on.

They have still no answered your question. They looked in your files instead of telling you if mod_rewrite is on or not.

Okay,

Thanks for the quick replies. I turned LEO off and now my site works fine. I'll keep LEO off for now until I can get with my server company to figure out the mod_rewrite.

Can I access that information from my CPanel of my server?

Thanks again for all the help.

No that i know of.

However if html pages are not working mod_rewrite is not enabled or there is some issue with your site setup or htaccess, or other issues on their apache main config or per virtual host config.

Typically the problem is that a LOT of CPANEL web hosts will either not allow .htacces files or default them with their own. Check this with them.

how did you "transfer servers"? some ftp programs do not "see" the .htaccess files by default - maybe you lost the .htaccess files during the process. the .htaccess files contain the rewrite rules
