mysql update to 5.5. and really old projects with df9.0.6.1 Reply to topic

hi

i have some really old (>8jears) but highly customized old projects ( DF9.0.6.1 version - with manual security updates made)

i know it should be updated ....

but i don’t working any more with them

so the admins of these old projects run now into problems and asking me for help
because their host isp will update the server first to mysql 4.1 and after that to 5.5

questions?:
-what will happen with the website after mysql update ?
-is it possible to patch the old DF 9.0.6.1 version to work with mysql 5.5 manually?
(perhaps only the db connector)
-what have to be changed to let it work with mysql 5.5?

and how is it with php versions? which php version work with DF 9.0.6.1

thanks

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

MySQL server's update to v4.1 will not create any problem to your Dragonfly CMS.

After MySQL v5.5 update the database connection might break, so edit includes/config.php to be as:
define('DB_TYPE', 'mysqli');

If you have any issues post'em here.

Note: MySQL strict mode MUST not be activated when installing MySQL, unlikely to happen anyway.

Which PHP version are they going to install.

thanks nano Very Happy

i understand right? :

mysql 4.1 and DF9.0.6.1 will work (nothing to change)
mysql 5.5 and DF9.0.6.1 will work (only to change define('DB_TYPE', 'mysqli');)

Which PHP version are they going to install.

i think it will be PHP 5.2.17 - perhaps they will allow to use also php 4

Yes, correct, I also believe it should work fairly stable under PHP 5.2.

after some research i found this:

Changes to TIMESTAMP in MySQL5

help.1and1.com/hosting...23791.html

can this be a problem?

Any TIMESTAMP fields I believe were replaced to INT(11) back on v8, so it's not an issue at all.
I cannot guarantee for any 3rd party apps but Dragonfly CMS v9 and all our modules had not TIMESTAMP fields whatsoever.

Move to public view as there are not security/privacy issues? ... and the world needs to know how great DF is... ehehe

now the updated was done

until now only issue with special characters.... Wink
and one sql query error in topics module

to avoid problems with special characters:
1. add/change in config.php

//define('DB_CHARSET', NULL); // NULL (is default), latin1, utf8, etc. define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');

2.
add in db/mysql.php after line 39
line 39 => $this->time += (get_microtime()-$stime);

add this (from newer version)

# http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/charset-connection.html if (DB_CHARSET) { mysql_query('SET NAMES \''.DB_CHARSET."'", $this->connect_id); mysql_query('SET CHARACTER SET \''.DB_CHARSET."'", $this->connect_id); mysql_query('SET wait_timeout = 90', $this->connect_id); }

and sql query problem in topics module:

search & replace in modules/topics/index.php

replace(all) "reads" with "readcount"

thanx nano for your help
