FTP uploads timing out. Reply to topic

Hi, i have 2 download files that time out.
When you click to DL they just hang there for about 20 mins then a message comes up, server time out.
I have tried to optimize and repair the database which didn't do anything.
Tried re-uploading the files, tried changing from an .exe to a .zip but just kept timing out and wont except the change..
I have had other downloads do this in which i simply click update url and it fixes it.
Any ideas or input welcome.
Thanks in advances.

Sry for slow reply.
My hosting company was just brought out and server moving was going on, i wanted this sorted before more testing.
The script didn't fix anything, but i have noticed i cant add new download url or edit any download url.

I starting to think it might be server memory and not a DF issue.

*Just realized i posted under "CPG-BB (forum)" not "Downloads Pro".

i worked out i can add small files by url or upload.
when i add a file (url) that is on the server of say 500mb it times out but smaller seem ok.

So it happens on Download Pro and not Forums' module and when you "upload" a big file via HTTP?

yes that is correct.
upload it via FTP and link it that way

www.nova-outpost.com/D...id=64.html
tried uploading a .zip version but cant update link.
tried uploading same file in case it was corrupt.
tried making new download listing, same thing.

It seems to be files over 450mb timeout. Smaller ones are working fine.

Looks more like a server related issue then... you also add that its happening via FTP!

No idea, contact your server admin or use a ftp/sftp client that support resuming interrupted uploads. Also make sure to use keep alive features from your FTP client.

edit: re-named topic title and re-re-moved topic.

im still at a loss,
tried checking all downloads..
Some large files work and others don't, some small files work and others don't.

download != upload
please choose the right terms or I can't help you further

Please answer the following questions:
  1. when uploading using FTP works?
  2. when downloading using FTP works?
  3. when downloading using HTTP direct link works? (/downloads/example.zip)
  4. when downloading using download module works? (/Downloads/get=137/mirror=146.html)

Happens to me too if, for example, I try and upload a picture file larger than about 4Mb to add to an ad in my classified module, or to an article in pronews.

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

PHP and you web server are causing this.

File/Post size limits:
PHP - upload_max_filesize and post_max_size.
Apache - LimitRequestBody.

Timeouts:
PHP - max_input_time
Apache - Timeout

Adjust PHP settings, if your server configuration allows you to do so, via a user php.ini , .htaccess or in runtime.

Contact your server admin for Apache directives.
